Lishan Observatory
The astronomical observatory of Shaanxi Observatory was built in Fenghuangling (1014 meters above sea level) of Lishan Mountain in Lintong Lishan scenic spot, Xi'an.
Introduction to Jiantai
In 1986, Shaanxi Province decided to build Xi'an Lintong expressway. Xiekou astronomical observation station is adjacent to the proposed expressway. After consultation and coordination with Shaanxi Provincial Construction Commission, Provincial Department of communications and Lintong county government, it was decided that the astronomical observatory should be relocated and built separately, and the land and real estate of Xiekou station should be transferred to Provincial Department of communications. The Provincial Department of transportation provided 4.32 million yuan for the relocation and construction of Shaanxi observatory. In June 1988, the Xi'an Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with the approval of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, approved the construction of the astronomical observatory of Shaanxi observatory at Fenghuangling (1014 meters above sea level).
Site selection
After investigation and extensive consultation with colleagues in the astronomical field, Shaanxi Observatory decided to add a 30cm and 1.05M reflecting telescope (commissioned by Nanjing Astronomical Instrument Factory) and a meteor radar observation station (transmitter produced by 761 factory and receiving system made by Shaanxi Observatory).
Introduction to equipment configuration
The new site of Lishan astronomical observation station includes five astronomical instrument observation rooms, including uphill road, hydropower communication system, 1.05M telescope, 30cm telescope, satellite tracking theodolite, horizontal meridian ring and photoelectric altimeter, as well as popular science, academic activities and living facilities. Jia Congwu is in charge of the project construction. The roadbed chiseling and pavement simple treatment of uphill road were completed in 1990. The power supply line is erected by two antenna teams. The roof of the 1.05M telescope observation room was designed by Nanjing Astronomical Instrument Factory and manufactured and installed by Shaanxi Observatory and Tianyi factory. The whole civil engineering was completed in 1991, and the astronomical observatory was moved from Xiekou to Lishan new site in October 1991. The instruments in the new site are: satellite tracking theodolite, 30cm reflecting telescope, and 1.05M telescope, which was installed on site by Tianyi factory in April 1993. The horizontal meridian ring is installed in the simple observation room of the station working area for debugging. The PHOTOELECTRIC ASTROLABE was not installed in the new site because it would be moved to Russia to participate in the cooperative observation and research. So far, new observation methods have been added to the work of Shaanxi Observatory, and new research fields such as historical astronomy and galactic dynamics have been developed.
