Meilin Reservoir is located in the north of Meilin Village and the east of Tanglang mountain, a large residential area in Futian District, Shenzhen city. Meilin Reservoir is surrounded by green hills on three sides, and its beauty is still beautiful. From the Meilin Reservoir to the northwest along the management line of the special zone, to Tanglang, along the road is expected to Tianluo and other peaks. Meilin Reservoir is located in the northwest of xiameilin village, Futian District, Shenzhen City, on the upper reaches of Xinzhou River. It is 16 km away from Shenzhen reservoir, 6 km away from Bijiashan factory, 3 km away from Meilin water plant and 8 km away from Xili reservoir. The lower reaches of the reservoir are Meilin industrial area and residential area in Shenzhen.

history

Meilin Reservoir, formerly known as Majie reservoir, is expanded from shangxiamajie reservoir. Shangmajie reservoir was built in June 1956, and xiamajie reservoir was built in February 1960.

In 1991, in order to alleviate the shortage of water supply in Shenzhen, the original Shenzhen Water Conservancy Bureau expanded the Majie reservoir, and in 1994, it was built into a medium-sized reservoir with the functions of water supply regulation and flood control. In the aspect of regulating water supply, it mainly supplies water to the nearby Meilin waterworks during the annual maintenance period of Shenzhen Dongshen water supply project. In the aspect of flood control, it mainly reduces the flood peak of Xinzhou River and reduces the flood control pressure of Futian Central District in Shenzhen.

Meilin Reservoir is located in the subtropical marine monsoon area with mild climate and abundant rainfall. The total storage capacity of Meilin Reservoir is 13.09 million cubic meters, the rainfall collection area is 4.26 square kilometers, the average annual rainfall is 1944 mm, the average annual runoff depth is 1000 mm, and the average annual runoff is 4.3 million cubic meters. The flood season is from April to September, and the rainfall accounts for 84.3% of the whole year. In winter (from October to March), it is dry with little rain and frost free. The landform of the reservoir area is low mountains, hills and valleys, surrounded by mountains on three sides, with the ground elevation of 30m-290m. The mountains on the north bank are high and steep, and the south bank is gentle. The reservoir area is located in the semi naked Yanshanian granite area with good engineering geological conditions and simple hydrogeological conditions. The reservoir bank is stable with good sealing and less leakage. In the upper reaches of the reservoir area, there are few human activities, good vegetation, no pollution sources and no cultural relics. The natural water from the reservoir meets the hygienic standard of drinking water source (gb5749-85). The main water source is from Shenzhen reservoir, and the water quality also meets the drinking water source standard.

Greenway

Meilin Reservoir is surrounded by mountains on three sides, and greenway is built on the hillside around the reservoir, which leads to Nanshan District, Xili district and Luohu District on the left and right respectively. Beside the greenway, there are plum trees. From January to February every year, plum blossoms are in full bloom.
