It is located in Xiatang, changmen West Street, wufengyuannong, covering an area of about 2.5 mu. The garden was built in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty by Yang Cheng, the Minister of Changzhou, and is commonly known as "Yang Jiayuan". It is said that the garden was built by Wen Boren, the painter and nephew of Wen Zhengming. Wen Boren is the old man of Wufeng. The five stone peaks of Taihu Lake in the garden are two Zhang high, rather wrinkled, thin and exquisite. They stand between the high and Fu mountains. They look like Lao Zhang, also known as Wu Lao Feng. They are "Zhang Ren Feng", "Guan Yin Feng", "San Lao Feng", "Qing Yun Feng" and "Qing Yun Feng".
The whole garden is composed of five peaks, supplemented by pools, cliffs, canyons, caves, stone bridges, ancient trees, dry boats and garden pavilions. There is a mound in the southwest corner of the garden, which is said to be the tomb of Tang Liuyi. Before and after the Anti Japanese War, the garden was scattered as folk houses. Because the garden was in disrepair, the pool was filled and two stone peaks were toppled. In 1982, Wufeng garden was listed as a municipal cultural relic protection unit. It was slightly protected and renovated. On October 1, 1998, it was restored and officially opened to the public.

Wufeng Garden
Wufeng garden is a classical garden building built in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. One of the most famous gardens in Suzhou. Wufengyuan is located at No. 15, wufengyuannong. It was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Suzhou in 1963.
development history
Wufeng garden was built in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty by Yang Cheng, the Minister of Changzhou. It is commonly known as "yangjiayuan". It is said that the garden was built by Wen Biren, the painter's nephew of Wen Zhengming. Wen Biren is the old man of Wufeng. In the garden, there are five Taihu Lake stone peaks, two Zhang high, rather wrinkled, thin and exquisite. They stand between the high and Fu mountains. They are also called five old peaks, which are "zhangren peak", "Guanyin peak", "Sanlao peak", "Qingyun peak" and "Qingyun peak". The whole garden is dominated by five peaks, supplemented by pools, with cliffs, canyons, caves, stone bridges, ancient trees, dry boats, garden pavilions, caves, etc. There is a mound in the southwest corner of the garden, which is said to be the tomb of Tang Liuyi. The garden has changed its owner for many times, but it was scattered as a folk house before and after the Anti Japanese war. It has been in disrepair for a long time, and now it is deserted. The buildings have collapsed, the pools have been filled, the ancient trees have withered, and two stone peaks have fallen to the ground. In 1983, Fengshi was repaired and reinforced.
In 1982, Wufeng garden was listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit.
origin
The five stone peaks on the rockery are the main scenery in the garden. Each of them is about two Zhang high (about seven meters), and they are slim and wrinkled. Because they look like Laozhang, they are named Wulaofeng. There are two versions of the origin of the five stone peaks
It is said that these stone peaks are relics of the "huashigang" of the Song Dynasty. At that time, Zhu Mian, a native of Suzhou, was a favorite of Huizong of Song Dynasty. He was responsible for purchasing the "flower stone Gang" and setting up the Suzhou Hangzhou Yingfeng Bureau. He searched for the different stones collected by Taihu Lake and the folk, and transported them to Bianjing to build the Royal Garden "gen Yue". According to Xu dachuo's "ember record", Zhu Mian destroyed the BeiCang in changmen and built a breeding garden for himself when he hosted the "flower and stone Gang". A large number of potted flowers are planted. Every spring and autumn, thousands of pots will be set up. The red and purple flowers are attractive. Later, Zhu Mian was defeated and killed by Emperor qinzong of the Song Dynasty. The flowers and trees in the garden were also cut down for salary. Only two Zhang large stones, six or seven sides, were left and piled up beside Liuyi bridge. In the Ming Dynasty, it was moved to Wufeng garden.
In addition, during the Xining period of the Northern Song Dynasty, Mei Xuanyi once built a five Mu garden in Taohuawu (near today's gaochangqiao), also known as Meiyuan. There are five stone peaks, named zhangren peak, Sanlao peak, Guanyin peak, Taowu Qingyun peak and Optimus Prime, each about two feet high. In Ming Dynasty, Wumu garden declined gradually, and Shifeng was moved to Wufeng garden in changmen.
To sum up, no matter what you say, these five stone peaks are among the best in Taihu Lake. They can be compared with Guanyun and Ruiyun in Suzhou gardens. They are indeed rare and famous stones.
The tomb of Liu Yi in the garden is also a historic site worth reciting. Although the legendary biography of Liu Yi written by Li Chaowei in the Tang Dynasty claims that Liu Yi's native place is Hunan, it is clearly pointed out in the strange news collection and Wu county annals that Liu Yi, a Confucian scholar in the Yifeng period of the Tang Dynasty, was born in Wuxian county and lived in changmen Xiatang. There is a Liuyi bridge near his house. According to the picture of Pingjiang in the Southern Song Dynasty, the bridge is in the west of today's Zhangguang bridge and faces Gaoqiao across the river in the south. It is a beautiful stone arch bridge. In Wumen Bucheng and wumuyuan Xiaozhi, Liu Yi's tomb is recorded in Wufeng garden. There are also many Narcissus temples and liuxiantang in Suzhou, all offering sacrifices to Liu Yi. In Dongting East Mountain, there is a well of Liuyi, "old well Tide Deep Liuyi temple, sealed book, who knows Dongting king?" The story of Liu Yi's biography has been handed down in Suzhou to this day.
Landscape features
The scenery of Wufeng garden is beautiful. You can enter from the main entrance of nongnei and follow the corridor at the northwest end to reach the boat named "zhushixuan". This pavilion is exquisitely designed and unique. It is a pavilion shaped like a boat on land, commonly known as a dry boat. To the East, the main hall of the garden is Wufeng mountain house. The interior is magnificent and elegant. In the south of the hall, there is a small clear pool with sky light, cloud and shadow, which opens people's vision. In front of the hall, there is a winding rockery, which is built with lake stones. It is an old thing of the Ming Dynasty and a treasure carefully carved by Wen. Rockery between the cliffs, canyons, stone bridges, stone beams, towering ancient trees, flowers and trees, five peaks scattered towering. The southeast corner seems to be hidden, but underneath it lies a winding cave. After coming out of the cave, you can climb to the top of the mountain and have a panoramic view of the whole garden. In the west of the pool, there are mounds of earth, green shade, lakes and rocks. On the top of the mountain, there is a pavilion named Liuyi Pavilion. It is said that it is the tomb of Liuyi in the Tang Dynasty. In the pavilion, the statue of Liu Yi was worshipped in the past, forming a unique style of Chinese culture and art.
