Weng's bingshe
Xiejiabang, located at the foot of the luge peak in Yushan, outside the west gate, was originally the tomb of Weng's ancestors. In his later years, Weng Tonghe was demoted by Cixi because he advocated the political reform of Guangxu and lived in seclusion until he died of illness. Bingshe refers to the tomb house. Weng's bingshe was built by Weng Tonghe and his second brother Weng tongjue in the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. It has houses, gardens, rockeries, ponds, thatched pavilions, trees on its back and Shanghu Lake on its side. It has a landscape pattern.
It is simple and crude at the beginning, but gradually expanded later. Bingsheweng's family is also known as "Pinglu" and "pingyinlu". It is said that they keep their mouth shut and don't talk about political affairs or live in a secluded bottle.
The original main gate entered from the pond in front of the mountain. On the lintel there was Weng's inscription "Weng's bingshe". Along Tang Road, there are three rooms on the north side of the road. The East Wing room is used to receive guests. The furnishings are simple and elegant. In the south, there are five main rooms with a few built-in chairs for his father, renge University scholar, to wear court clothes. To the East is Weng's living room, with the title of "room of purple fungus and white turtle". There is an ancient cypress and a rockery in the outdoor garden. On the east wall is the gate of the cave in January, inscribed with Weng's self titled "Ping Yin Lu".
There are three rooms in the west, and a side door is built along the front pond. Outside the door, there is a well dug after Weng's seclusion in bingshe, which is called "Jue well". It is said that Weng was afraid of Cixi's harm and was ready to throw himself into the well at any time. He also wrote the word "juejing" in Jinglan, which means "no pollution". Later, his nephew Yu zhongluan quoted the words in the book of changes that "the well does not eat, and it is my heart's pity" (the well is clean, but not yet eaten, and pedestrians are sad for it). He said to Weng that it was a slander to the imperial court to name it "the well". Weng ordered people to sink the well into Shanghu overnight, so there is no well fence at the mouth of the well, and the well is covered with stone slabs.
There is a thatched pavilion in the northwest, which is called "heaven and earth grass Pavilion". The east end is a pond for raising fish and ducks. During the Anti Japanese War, most of Weng's houses were destroyed in the war, only a few houses remained.
After liberation, the gate houses were rebuilt and the brick walls were strengthened. It covers an area of 3000 square meters. At present, the local government has listed the restoration of Weng's bingshe in Changshu tourism industry development planning outline.
