Development history
Covering an area of 4000 square meters, Changshu Museum of stele inscriptions has collected more than 1000 pieces of stele inscriptions from Tang Dynasty to modern times. More than 800 pieces of stele inscriptions are now on display, covering four aspects: Politics and economy, culture and art, religious customs and biographies. Shilong is a stone carving work of the northern and Southern Dynasties, more than 1300 years ago. It is the earliest stone carving work found in Changshu. Originally for Fushan pond, in order to pray for calm, play a "Zhenhai" role.
The stele of rebuilding Changshu county is one of the larger ones in the exhibition of Changshu stele Museum. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, Yan Song lost his power and the coastal defense of the whole country was empty. Changshu was no exception. Japanese pirates frequently invaded the areas along the Yangtze River in Changshu. At that time, in order to resist the invasion of Japanese pirates, Wang Kai, the magistrate of Changshu, led the officials and people to rebuild Changshu county. This tablet records the historical facts and praises Wang Kai's achievements. It has not only historical value, but also high artistic value. The writer of this inscription is Qu Jingchun, the then academician of Hanlin academy, the head school of Yongle Dadian and the famous Confucian in the city. He also wrote seal script by Wen Zhengming, a famous calligrapher who was one of the four talents of Wuzhong in the Ming Dynasty. He wrote at the age of 80. His regular script is still elegant and free. He also has Wu's powerful knife work. Article, calligraphy and seal cutting reflect each other, which can be called "three wonders".
