Changshu Guqin art museum, covering an area of 1400 square meters, is the only professional Guqin Museum funded by the government in China. On November 7, 2003, Chinese Guqin was listed in the list of "representative works of human oral and intangible heritage" by UNESCO. Changshu, as a national historical and cultural city, has a deep relationship with Guqin.

Changshu, as a national historical and cultural city, has a deep relationship with Guqin. In 2004, Changshu City was named "the hometown of Guqin art" by Jiangsu Provincial Department of culture, and in the same year, Changshu City was named "the hometown of Guqin art" by the international folk art organization Asia University Branch. In May 2007, Changshu Guqin art museum was named "China Guqin Jiangnan protection base" by China Academy of Arts and China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center. In the same year, it was also named as the first batch of intangible cultural heritage protection demonstration base in Suzhou and the patriotic education base in Changshu.

Changshu Guqin art museum integrates exhibition, performance, research, training and exchange to create a broader space for the inheritance and development of Yushan Guqin school and add new vitality and luster to the construction of Changshu cultural city.
