Bacheng old street

Bacheng old street, Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, was built in the Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. It is 200 meters long from east to west and narrow. It only allows three people to walk side by side. In order to make full use of the space, the eaves of the houses and shops on both sides are pointed out to the middle, making the old street more narrow, known as "a line of heaven".

The old street of Bacheng continues the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, with ancient buildings of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China on both sides. The shops stand by the water, facing the street and the river, with white walls and tiles, mottled stone banks and well arranged river ports. The river in the city is clear and the boats are flying in the river, which is a beautiful style of Jiangnan. Until the eve of liberation, the basic pattern of old streets remained unchanged

After 1949, the east section of Laojie was the seat of the Party committee and government of Baicheng, and Laojie became the political, economic and cultural center of Baicheng. State owned Zhongbai company, tobacco and alcohol monopoly company, bank, credit cooperative, United clinic, supply and marketing cooperative, department store, and non-staple food wholesale department have successively settled down in the old street. In the 1980s, with the development of urban construction, the town Party committee and government moved to Xincheng Road, shops and residents expanded to the south one after another, and the old streets gradually became deserted and depressed.

In 1997, Bacheng old street was approved by the people's Government of Kunshan City as a cultural relic protection unit of Kunshan City. In April 2005, the Party committee and government of Baicheng listed the restoration and reconstruction of the ancient town and old street as a practical project for benefiting the people, and established Baicheng ancient town construction and Development Co., Ltd. to repair and reconstruct the ancient buildings in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China on both sides of Hebu revetment and Shiban street of the ancient town and old street. Based on the principle of repairing the old as before and preserving the original appearance of the old street as far as possible, Chunhe noodle shop, longyungu teahouse, calligraphy and painting garden were established , old street restaurant, Yangcheng Hotel, etc.

Old cultural street

In order to create the cultural atmosphere of the old street and "the cultural old street of the ancient town of water", a number of boutique collections have been set up.

Yufeng antiquities exhibition hall: more than 400 pieces of Zhu Yulian's collection of people's daily. It is divided into four parts: ceramics, bronze, jade and four treasures of the study. It has a number of national first-class cultural relics. After the completion of the museum, Mr. Wang Tongbao, a good friend of Mr. Zhu Yulian, donated more than 300 works of contemporary calligraphers and painters to Laojie. The collection covers all provinces and municipalities directly under the central government, including the works of Lu Yanshao, Ya Ming, song Wenzhi, Wei Zixi, Lin Sanzhi, Chen Dayu, Gao Ershi, Wu Zhongqi, Lai Shaoqi and other contemporary masters of calligraphy and painting.

Jiangnan woodcarving Museum: there are more than 150 pieces of fine woodcarvings collected from all over the country by Ni Xiaozhou, a native craftsman of Bacheng.

Kunshi Museum: Kunshi collector Yan Jianmin selected 50 pieces of Kunshi to build Kunshi Museum in Laojie. There are more than 10 kinds of Kunshi collected in the museum, which are named jigufeng, yangmeifeng, hutaofeng, litchi peak, jellyfish peak according to their morphological characteristics.

Dongbao flute house: born in 1954 in the old street of Bacheng, Chen Dongbao was fond of literature and art since childhood. He was good at playing flute and had a hard life as a wandering artist. The recording of "wandering Flute" has been recognized and supported by experts and everyone. CCTV broadcast his special topic. The Gujian company has built a house for it, while Chen Dongbao presents hundreds of flute treasures and even top-notch ones to the tourists.

Fantulou: Yang Shousong's studio "fantulou" is a collection of literati and poets.
