Zhangjiagang Museum
Zhangjiagang museum was completed and opened in October 1999. Located in the West District of Zhangjiagang City, the Museum covers an area of 52 mu, with a construction area of 7060 square meters. It adopts the Tang style of "axial symmetry, master-slave order, four corners of Chonglou". Its magnificent momentum is integrated with square green space and dry fountain, symbolizing the connection between ancient history and modern civilization.
In September 2018, China Museum Association announced the list of the third batch of national second and third level museums, and Zhangjiagang museum was listed as the third batch of national third level museums.

Introduction to the Museum
Zhangjiagang museum was completed and opened in October 1999, which is a historic event in our city.
Zhangjiagang museum is located in the West District of Zhangjiagang City, covering an area of 52 mu, with a construction area of 7060 square meters. The museum adopts the Tang style of "symmetrical axis, orderly master-slave, four corner Chonglou". Its magnificent momentum is integrated with square green space and dry fountain, symbolizing the pattern of connecting ancient history with modern civilization. There are: Museum, hall, room, is a collection, display, exhibition, research, education in one of the multi-functional comprehensive museum.
Architectural features
The overall architecture of Zhangjiagang Museum adopts the Tang style of "symmetrical axis, orderly master-slave and four corner buildings", which is organically integrated with the large area of green space, square, fountain, sculpture and other external environment full of the flavor of the times outside the museum, showing a grand momentum. The museum has a rich collection of cultural relics, including more than 10000 specimens, of which more than 2000 are of high-quality cultural relics of the Neolithic age and various dynasties. There are also many exhibition halls, exhibition halls and multi-functional education halls. With the functions of collection, display, scientific research, publicity and education, it is a multi-functional and comprehensive local museum with distinct personality.
Exhibitions and collections
Inscription exhibition area
It is located in the atrium on the first floor of the museum, covering an area of about 611 square meters. Since the reconstruction and expansion of the museum in 2010, the atrium green space has been fully utilized, surrounded by rockery and flowing water, and the central area has been transformed into a landscape belt with inscription display as the main content, integrating exhibition, appreciation and leisure.
In the exhibition area, 19 pieces of representative inscriptions in Zhangjiagang are selected, including Ming Dynasty Epitaphs, chongjun xiputang steles, Qing Dynasty Yang's Yizhuang steles, rules, maps, etc. in addition, building components that can show the characteristics of Zhangjiagang area, such as lion rolling embroidered ball, Water Margin stories, Dan he stone piers, are also displayed.
Zhangjiagang folk culture exhibition hall
Located on the first floor in the west of the museum, covering an area of about 800 square meters, the exhibition cabinet and semi open exhibition stand are used to display, and the display means of sound, light and multimedia such as pictures, objects, models and scenes are integrated to highlight the folk characteristics of Zhangjiagang and restore the folk production, life, characteristic blocks and folk customs of Zhangjiagang in a scene style.
The exhibition consists of four parts
1、 A land of fish and rice. Show Zhangjiagang regional landform and fishing farming scene.
2、 Old street. Taking the historical district as the main form of expression, it shows the city customs of Zhangjiagang area.
3、 Jiyang family. In the form of traditional dwellings, it reflects the architectural characteristics and living customs of Zhangjiagang dwellings.
4、 Local customs. This paper systematically introduces the customs, dialect characteristics, folk art and religious beliefs of Zhangjiagang solar terms.
Special exhibition of bronze mirrors in Yizheng Museum
Bronze mirrors, as the living utensils of the ancients, have a long history. They were used from the late Neolithic period to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and formed their own system in the bronze ware group of China. With excellent casting, rich inscriptions and gorgeous patterns, it has become a unique treasure in China's ancient cultural heritage.
Yizheng is an important node city between Nanjing, Zhenjiang and Yangzhou. Yizheng county was officially established by Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty, and developed into a famous industrial and commercial city in Tang and Song dynasties. There are more than 500 ancient bronze mirrors in Yizheng Museum, which started from the Warring States period and ended in the Qing Dynasty. The Han Dynasty bronze mirrors are the most characteristic. It shows the development history of ancient Chinese bronze mirrors from one side and reflects the social life and cultural features of various times.
More than 80 pieces of bronze mirrors collected in Yizheng museum are on display in this exhibition. The exhibits have complete time sequence, complete types, rich cultural connotation and great artistic appreciation value. Through this exhibition, we hope to open a unique window of bronze culture for the general public and feel the lasting charm of ancient Chinese civilization.
Zhangjiagang historical and cultural exhibition
The exhibition hall of Zhangjiagang history and culture is located on the south side of the two floor of the museum. It covers an area of about 925. The exhibition hall and movable display cabinet are used to comprehensively display the essence of our collection and the valuable cultural relics unearthed from Zhangjiagang's important archaeological discoveries in recent years by comprehensively using pictures, objects, restoration models, multimedia and other means. The system shows the fruitful achievements of Zhangjiagang's ancient civilization and its achievements. The outstanding contribution of Chinese civilization.
The exhibition hall consists of five parts.
1、 The origin of civilization. It shows the important cultural relics unearthed from Dongshan village and xujiawan site, as well as the important archaeological achievements of Dongshan village in recent years.
2、 Tang and Song dynasties. We will concentrate on displaying the essence of Tang and song collections and the important archaeological achievements of the Huang Si Pu site.
3、 Military fortress. It shows the unique geographical advantages of Zhangjiagang as the head of Jiangwei sea, the historical legends of Zang Jun Dong and Han Shizhong's resistance to gold and the representative objects related to them.
4、 Yangshebao city. It shows the restoration scene of yangshebao city and the related historical relics of Zhangjiagang's Anti Japanese war.
5、 Zhangjiagang celebrities. Starting from the existing data, we select the representative historical and cultural celebrities in each period, and then classify them in detail. The whole exhibition is divided into three parts: preface, ancient celebrities and modern celebrities.
In the foreword, it summarizes the long history of Zhangjiagang, with outstanding people and celebrities.
The first part is about ancient celebrities. From the establishment of Jiyang County in the second year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty, through the Tang, song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, especially in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Zhangjiagang area has a wide range of celebrities, covering politics, literature, art and many other fields, showing the characteristics of sustained prosperity and development of large families. According to the social status, outstanding achievements, time influence and other factors of historical and cultural celebrities, this part is divided into five parts: famous officials of past dynasties, Wen yuanjunyan, Xinglin wizard, rural virtuous and righteous persons, and the whereabouts of famous and virtuous persons.
The second part is about modern celebrities. This part is divided into five parts: revolutionaries, patriots, cultural elites and academicians of the two academies. At the same time, the exhibition hall is also selected
Xie Jun calligraphy exhibition
The display of Zhangjiagang's history and culture reflects the historical status of Zhangjiagang from different aspects and tells the rise, fall, rise and fall of different times.
Xie Jun is vice chairman of Nantong Calligrapher Association and chairman of Rudong Calligrapher Association. In his early years, he learned from Mr. Pan Zonghe, and later from Mr. Yan Gongda, a famous calligrapher. He has a deep foundation in calligraphy and is good at writing in regular script. His works have won many awards in national competitions, and have been exhibited in the Eighth National Calligraphy and seal cutting exhibition, the second national cursive calligraphy exhibition, the first national calligraphy art exhibition and other national exhibitions. Many high-level art treasures have been collected by the International Olympic Organizing Committee, the National Museum and other professional institutions and calligraphy lovers at home and abroad. More than 80 pieces of Xie Jun's masterpieces of various periods are exhibited in this exhibition, including combination banner, nave, fan, banner, album, scroll and other forms. Not only the works are large, but also the display forms and forms are rich, which can be called a comprehensive display of his calligraphy attainments and artistic ideas. As a significant art exchange between Zhangjiagang and Rudong, this exhibition can not only promote the exchange of calligraphy artists between the two places, but also present a high-quality cultural feast for the general public.
Organizational system and evolution
Zhangjiagang museum was founded on September 18, 1998 and officially opened to the public on September 28, 1999. In January 2000, he worked with the office of Zhangjiagang cultural relics management committee.
In September 2018, China Museum Association announced the list of the third batch of national second and third level museums, and Zhangjiagang museum was listed as the third batch of national third level museums.

Up to now, Zhangjiagang Museum has a total of 15 cadres and staff, and 13 non staff. One curator, two deputy curators and one deputy secretary are assigned. There are 2 senior professional titles, 3 intermediate professional titles, 10 junior professional titles, 4 university culture, 8 junior college culture, 8 senior high school culture, 1 secondary technical school culture, and 6 CPC members.

Zhangjiagang Museum has six special exhibition rooms and three temporary exhibition halls. The museum has a total collection of more than 10000 cultural relics, including one class I cultural relic, four class II cultural relics and 22 class III cultural relics.
The collections of Zhangjiagang museum are mainly Neolithic pottery and stone tools, followed by all kinds of porcelain. The Neolithic cultural relics are made of various kinds of pottery and stone unearthed from Dongshan village site
