In August 1943, with the autumn harvest in sight, the Japanese army sent more than 800 people from the Kota brigade of the 61st division in Nanjing and the puppet army to encroach on the 800 and Sihe areas in an attempt to grab food. On the 17th, the 13th regiment of the 5th brigade of the 2nd division of the New Fourth Army, led by Rao Shoukun, bravely blocked and defended the autumn harvest. In guizishan, the soldiers of the new fourth army fought bravely against the enemy's heavy artillery. They were not afraid of sacrifice and fought bravely. The battle lasted from the early morning to the evening, and the whole Guizi Mountain was ablaze with fire and gunfire. More than 300 Japanese and puppet soldiers were killed and injured, but 122 soldiers, including Chen Zongsheng, deputy head of the New Fourth Army and Li Bingchu, deputy director of the Political Department of the Communist Youth League, also died. In 1956, the people's Government of Liuhe County erected a 2-meter-high tombstone with a base of 4 meters in Guizi Mountain as a memorial. In 1983, in order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the battle of guizishan, Liuhe County Party committee and county government invested A martyr cemetery covering an area of about 45 Mu was built around the hillside with red bricks, and a martyr's Tomb of the 13th regiment of the 5th brigade of the 2nd Division was built. In front of the tomb, a 10 meter high tombstone was built with granite. Rao Shoukun, commander of Jinan Military Region, wrote the inscription for it, and Du Ping, political commissar of Nanjing Military Region, said "long live the martyrs".
