History and culture
Among the 48 scenes of ancient Jinling, Niushou mountain has three exclusive scenes, namely, the haze of Niushou mountain, Qingxing flower offering and Zhenxi ancestral hall.
Zutang Zhenxi
Before Ming Dynasty, Zutang mountain also belonged to Niushou mountain range. Zutang Zhenxi, one of the 48 scenic spots in ancient Jinling, took place there. Zutang mountain was originally named Youqi mountain, because Youqi temple was built on the mountain. It was there that Farong Zen master of Tang Dynasty got his way and created Niutou Zen, becoming the first patriarch of Niutou Zen, so Youqi mountain was renamed Zutang mountain. The meaning of Zhenxi is that monks travel with a stick. There is a decorative ring on the head of the stick. The decorative ring vibrates and sounds when they walk on the stick, so it is called Zhenxi. Zutang Zhenxi depicts the scene of Buddhism prevailing and numerous monks at that time.
Flowers for Qingxing
The area where the Yellow buildings on Zutang mountain are located is called Xianhua rock. It is said that during the reign of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty, Zen master Farong talked about the Dharma Sutra under Xianhua rock. In the ice and snow, golden flowers grew up. Suddenly, a hundred birds gathered in the sky to offer flowers. This is one of the 48 scenes of ancient Jinling, "Qingxing of offering flowers.". In 2008, the legend was listed in the list of intangible cultural heritage of Jiangning District by Jiangning District government.
The haze of the ox's head
Between the East and West peaks of Niushou mountain, you can see "Niushou haze". "Niu Shou Yan Lan" depicts a beautiful scene of mountains shrouded by clouds and deep valleys. There are two reasons for the formation of haze in Niushou mountain: one is that it is related to the climate of Niushou mountain. Niushou mountain is rainy all year round, especially in spring and autumn. The rainfall is not big, and the haze is hazy and permeates the valley. The haze floats up and down among the peaks, forming a quiet and deep scene, just like a fairyland in the world (two peaks are very similar to two lovers who have been separated for a long time, and stand together); the other is that the haze floats up and down between the peaks One is that there were many temples and incense in Niushou mountain at that time. "Niushou haze" was actually a wonderful scene with green smoke curling up, which just integrated with the Buddhist interest of Niushou mountain.
The origin of Buddhism and Zen
Niushou mountain is a famous Buddhist mountain. Monk Baozhi, an eminent monk of the Liang Dynasty, once told Emperor Wu that Niushou mountain was the winter palace of Manjusri Bodhisattva. It is said that Manjusri Bodhisattva once led ten thousand Bodhisattvas to live here in the winter. The first temple of Niushou mountain, Buddha cave temple, was also built in the Liang Dynasty (Sikong Xudu). In the Tang Dynasty, Niushou mountain, Qingliang in the northwest and Emei in the southwest, were known as three famous Buddhist mountains
. Youqi temple was built in 459, the third year of the Ming Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty. It is an early famous temple among the 480 temples in the Southern Dynasty. In 503, Sikong Xudu built a Buddhist cave temple, and Li Yu, the later leader of the Southern Tang Dynasty, renamed HongJue temple. In the Tang Dynasty, Zong "once dreamed that Niushou mountain would be a place to see a Buddha," so there was a pagoda. In the Tang Dynasty, FA Rong, known as "Dharma of the East Xia Dynasty", founded Niutou Zen in Niushou mountain, which was called "Jiang Biao Niutou" in ancient times. The establishment of Niutou Zen played an important role in bridging the transformation of Indian Zen into Chinese Zen. In the history of Chinese Zen, Yin Shun believes that FA Rong is the builder of Chinese Zen and the root of Chinese Zen.
History and Humanities
Li Min, the liezu of the Southern Tang Dynasty, often visited the mountain when he was idle. Li Jing, the middle Lord, also came here many times to worship Buddha. The tombs of Li Min and Li Jing in the second Mausoleum of the Southern Tang Dynasty were buried here. Li Yu, the later Lord, built thousands of temples here. On the double peaks of Niushou, the prince of Zhaoming drank horse pool, and on the hillside of Dongfeng, Yuefei, the anti gold fortress left by the great victory of Niushou mountain, can also be seen. He once went to the West for seven times and opened up a new castle Zheng He, who brought back the Buddha's Tooth Relic along the maritime Silk Road, built a temple here and made a vow. After his death, he was buried in the south of Niushou mountain. Li Ruiqing, a scholar and educator of the Republic of China, was also buried here. In ancient times, many emperors, generals and literati liked to cultivate themselves and enjoy tea in Niushou mountain. They left more than 400 poems in Niushou mountain, which are now buried in Niushou mountain The mountain culture tourist area is included in the book "Poems of Niushou mountain".

Main attractions
Buddha top Palace
As one of the cores of the Buddha summit holy land, the Buddha summit palace is located at the West peak of Niushou, built on the historical mines, with a total construction area of about 136000 square meters. Together with the Buddha summit tower, it forms a new scene of Niushou West Peak, echoes with Niushou East Peak, and reproduces the grand scene of Niushou "two peaks and two towers". The theme of the whole Buddha dome palace is the sacrifice of the parietal bones of the Buddha. The outside of the palace is divided into two parts: the big dome and the small dome, implying external and internal support. The big dome is like a Buddha's cassock, which is covered on the small dome, symbolizing the Buddha's boundless blessing; the lower part of the small dome is the lotus throne shape, and the upper part is the mani pearl shape, which is combined to form the sacred image of "Lotus holding treasure".
The inner part of the Buddha top palace is composed of the Grand View of Zen on the ground and the underground part of the underground palace. The underground palace is divided into two spaces: the Relic Hall and the relic palace. The whole Foding palace is not only the main place for collecting the parietal bones relic of Buddha and receiving the worships of believers, but also a cultural exhibition place for presenting the relic culture and the world Buddhist culture in a variety of artistic ways. It gathers the first-class experts from the religious, artistic and architectural circles in China, aiming to realize the goal of "a new world Buddhist cultural heritage and a new landscape of contemporary architectural art" Grand goal.
