After taking office, Xu and Hong called a meeting of the villagers and unanimously decided to draw half of the 24 village protection guns out and put them on the fishing boats to fight against the sea tyrants, so as to ensure the safety of the fishermen going to sea.

One day, Haiba attacked again. More than 100 fishermen led by Xu and Hong attacked him head-on. They were beaten to pieces and abandoned their armor. More than 20 of them were captured alive. In this naval battle, the people of Nanshi Township won, but Hong Sheng was stabbed by the enemy in the fierce battle. He bled and died. The villagers were very sad for this.

Hong Sheng's father had already returned to his hometown of Zhanjiang to do business with his wife and children because he was homesick. After Hongsheng died, Nanshi Township sent someone to inform his family. It was midsummer. On the sixth day, the parents and villagers who arrived all the way saw that the hero's body had rotted. When Hong's mother saw her son's tragedy, she cried and fell to the ground. Local villagers learned from Hong's mother that Hong Sheng's nickname was Dashu. In order to commemorate the hero, people changed the name of "Shuangyu island" where Hong Sheng was buried to "Dashu island", and built a temple at the foot of the mountain beside the beach, named "Hongsheng Temple". Every time the hero's birthday and death taboo, the people of Nanshi township have to offer sacrifices to commemorate.

After the sacrifice of Hongsheng, Xu dingguang led the villagers to fight against Haiba, and won the victory. From then on, the people of Nanshi Township lived a safe life.

Today's Island

Dashu island is a natural and beautiful island, with coconut trees, verdant vegetation and fresh air, which is very suitable for raising sheep. Xu Jiachang discovered this treasure land and went to Dashu island after he retired. He set up camp on the island, dug wells for fresh water, opened up roads around the island, built reinforced concrete wharves and simple bridges, planted coconut trees, reclaimed vegetable fields and grasslands, and bought more than 100 sheep to scatter in the mountains. The owner of the island also pulls up dozens of net beds in the coconut forest. Adults can rest on the net beds, while children can use the net beds to "swing" and enjoy themselves. Dashu island seems to have become a tourist attraction. Visitors can climb up to the top of the mountain along the road around the island, have a close look at the fishermen's new village with a new seaside weather, and enjoy the beautiful sea view in the sky from a distance.
