Baishoufang

Baishoufang is located in Shengli North Street, Shan county, Heze City, Shandong Province. In 1765, it was built as a gift to the wife of Zhu Shuqi in the Imperial Academy. It was named after a hundred different "Shou" characters. It is a key cultural relic protection unit of the state.

Baishou square and Baishi square in Shanxian County stand in the forest of memorial archways with their majestic momentum. They are rare typical stone buildings of Qing Dynasty in China.

Human history

Baishou archway, also known as Zhujia archway, was built in 1765 as a gift from Kong mu of Hanlin academy to Zhu Shuqi's wife, the Confucian scholar. It is named after the carving of 100 different Shouzi. The square is composed of cyan fishseed limestone, with a height of 13 meters and a width of 8 meters. It has four columns, three rooms and three floors.

Baishou square is unique in that it is carved with eight vigorous lions looking forward to the distance, eight mosquito dragons dancing around the pillars, and peonies in full bloom on the architrave. It is a masterpiece of art with infinite charm, which means "longevity", "wealth" or "happiness" "Tip".

In addition to lion, dragon and peony, baishoufang also contains crane, Phoenix, plum and other exotic flowers. Its architecture is exquisite and magnificent, and its carving is exquisite and vivid, which can be compared with baishifang. Not to mention the agile and handsome lion, the dragon dancing around the column, the peony decorated with the forehead Fang, the five carved cranes dancing between the upper and lower forehead Fang and the two phoenixes flying relative to each other, have infinite charm. There are four flower and bird paintings on the back of the lion. There are peony dancing butterflies, which means wealth; Peony hibiscus, which means prosperity; plum blossom magpie, which means happiness; plum blossom bamboo ribbon, which means birthday. There are peach swallow, Camellia Caragana, Narcissus Begonia, okra Magnolia and so on. The composition is novel, the carving is exquisite, the flowers are colorful, and the insect feathers are vivid.

Sister building

Baishifang, known as the first square in the world, is located in the middle of Paifang street in the present single county. It is named for its fine carving of 100 stone lions with different postures, implying the meaning of Pepsi (lion) Ruyi, Baishi (lion) Duoshou (Beast). It was built in 1778 as a gift to Zhang Pu's wife Zhu of Wenlin lang. it is a stone structure, 14 meters high and 9 meters wide. It has four columns, three rooms and five floors. It has a single eaves in the main room, a second eaves and a rest on the top of the mountain. There are eight groups of lions with eight columns in the square. The big lions are ferocious and towering, and the little lions are playing around. The front, left and right sides of each column are embossed with a picture of a pine lion. On the four pillars and Fang's forehead are carved clouds and dragons. On other parts are also carved clouds and Dragons dancing in relief, with patterns of rare animals and flowers.

There are six brackets under the eaves of the main building and three brackets under the eaves of the secondary building. The carved lion, cloud dragon, peony, beast kissing and elephant statue are lifelike, lifelike, flexible and harmonious. Eight columns are divided into eight groups to carve 100 stone lions. The lion giant has curly hair and protruding eyes, a big nose, a wide mouth and sharp teeth, and a towering crouching position. There are five little lions on each big lion. In front of the constellation Leo, there are three relief pictures of round pine lions on the left and right sides. The young lions are in twos and threes, jumping and rolling, competing for hydrangeas. Each column is carved with four dragons, hovering and dancing in the soft and elegant auspicious clouds. Two dragons playing with pearls are hollowed out on the upper and lower forehead Fang of the main room, the second forehead Fang and the "imperial edict" plaque under the main eaves. In the middle of the room, there are three layers of carved peonies, which give people a colorful and fragrant feeling. Under the eaves of the building, the animal fight flower arch is supported by Ruyi Fangban. The kissing beast, elephant statue, fork beast, fish, seahorse and running beast carved on the ridge and eaves are all beautiful and vivid. The tail of the kiss is rolled out and the mouth is opened to swallow the ridge. Two dragons are embossed on the body of each kiss beast. In the middle of the ridge, there are two dragons facing the sky, supporting a pearl and bottle ornament. Other parts are also embossed and flatly carved with auspicious pictures such as Double Dragons, peonies, chrysanthemums, Tuanhe and tuanshou. A stone bird cage is also carved on the nose of the lower Fangban in the main room. When the breeze blows, the stone birds flutter and sing. The structure of the whole archway is exquisite, grand and magnificent, the carving is fine, exquisite and clear, complex but not chaotic, and the primary and secondary are clear.

Folklore

Baishoufang was established by the Kong family, Zhu Shuqi's wife. Zhu's family is the largest rich family in Shan county, with more than 200000 mu of land. His grandfather Zhu Tinghuan worked as deputy envoy of Daming Fubing Dao. With his wealth, Zhu Shuqi entered the Imperial Academy during the reign of Emperor Qianlong and married a girl from the Kong family in Qufu. They gave him the name of Princess goose and duck. Kong's fingers are connected by skin, which is like goose and duck's toes. It's hard to climb the high gate, so he married Zhu Shuqi, a humble official. In order to show the nobility of the family, the Kong Family proposed that the Zhu family should place their treasures in Qufu one by one. Zhu family Yuanbao double trip to Qufu. Less than 10 years after Kong's marriage, Zhu Shuqi died of illness. Kong Shi was only 26 years old. He asked the county magistrate of Shanxian County to "point the Lord". The magistrate thought Zhu Shuqi was inferior, but his family was much more than woodlouse. In a rage, Kong went to Qufu for help from Yan Shenggong. When Kong arrived in Qufu, he explained the cause and effect. Yan Shenggong was not happy with his aunt's marriage to Shan county. Now he came to the door to ask for help, but he was compassionate and promised Kong to go to Shan county to "order the master". When the Zhu family went with the Kong family, they asked how many people were with them, and Yan Shenggong said, "three people.". Not a day later, Yan Shenggong drove to Shan county, but he saw a huge flag, a roaring drum and a dazzling sword. Yan Shenggong said that the three men he brought were three chief soldiers. The three chief soldiers brought thousands of men and horses to Shan county. From Shan county to ten miles away, ten miles were full of soldiers and horses, and the well water was drained. The Zhu family not only bought all the restaurants in the city, but also bought food from four townships. The magistrate of Shan county paid a visit to Yan Shenggong, who asked him to throw paper money at the funeral. After the funeral, Kong asked Yan Shenggong, what would you do after my death? Yan Shenggong replied that as long as his aunt is determined to keep the chastity and pacify the orphan, she should play the emperor and build a square.

Kong's family followed the feudal women's way and was widowed for several decades, and his son Zhu Chun was founded. After his death, the Zhus and the Kongs played a role in the extension of the Ming Dynasty, and Emperor Qianlong issued a decree to build a square. The fourth son of the emperor also gave a poem to the prince, saying, "I like to see Tingzhi gradually grow up, the moon is cold, the ground is frosty at dusk, and the sound of reading is far away from the hangings.". "In the past decades, there has been no fault in supporting life and dying. Ice strength festival light heaven and earth, through the ages often teach "mother teacher". The poem is engraved on the archway. Afterwards, Shanxian County magistrate said with emotion, "woodlouse is big enough to bite people!"
