Xilai ancient temple
Xi Lai ancient temple, also known as "Xixi Buddha". Located in Huilai County, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, it is located on the West Bank of Longxi, Xier village, Xixi town. It was the only place for the ancient road to enter the tide.

In the middle of Xilai ancient temple is the Great Britain ancestral hall, in which there is a large statue of the Great Britain patriarch, with solemn Dharma. The good faith in the hall kneels down and the cigarettes are around. There are many couplets, all of which are devoted to helping the people. On the east wall in front of the hall is the preface to rebuilding the ancestral temple in the west of Longjiang River, written by Cai Shijiang, a Gongsheng of Qianlong Sihai (1779), with stone inscriptions and elegant running script. On the east side of the hall is the main hall with a reception room and a monk's house. On the west side of the hall is the ancestral hall. The temple covers an area of over 1000 square meters.
history
Before Huilai County was established in 1524, Xilai temple was under the jurisdiction of Haifeng County, Huizhou Prefecture.
According to records in Huilai County annals, monk Da Dian of Tang Dynasty was inspired by Zen master Shitou xiqian. When he entered the tide in Yuanhe period, when he passed the West Township of Longxi, he happened to meet the drought and pray for rain. Monk Da Dian immediately prayed for rain. If there was no rain, he would burn himself. The villagers call Da Dian "living Buddha". After the establishment of the ancestral hall, generations of worship.
In the fourth year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, Yang Mengxun raised money to build a monk's house and made a statue of the Great Britain, which is called the ancestral nunnery. In the reign of emperor Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Chen Wanquan was added to the front Pavilion by Jieshi garrison; in the reign of Emperor Kangxi in the reign of bingshen, Tong Shijun rebuilt the temple; in the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the reign of renxu, Yang Zongbing, magistrate of the county, and Ma Xining, governor of Youfu, built additional walls; in the reign of 1898, Chen Dengkui, governor of Longjiang, and Yang Chang rebuilt the temple In the year of Jihai, Cai Shichi, a student of Yigong, wrote a preface to the reconstruction of the ancestral temple in the west of Longjiang, recording the cause of the construction. There are many literati who wrote poems and couplets. Xilai ancient temple has a long history, strong incense, large-scale buildings and towering ancient trees. During the great revolution and the war of liberation, it was the stronghold of the Red Army and the guerrillas. From 1983 to 1991, with the enthusiastic support of many overseas Chinese, domestic sages and believers, Xilai ancient temple was constantly renovated and renovated, and the palace was magnificent. The main hall is the Great Britain ancestral hall, the Buddha statue of Sakyamuni, etc. beside it, there is a couplet saying: "master Longxi has become a living Buddha with dignity for all ages. He sings and dances with crane for thousands of years. I wish you a happy Christmas.". The east side is the main hall and guest hall, and the west side is the ancestral hall and monk's house.

In 1994, in order to facilitate believers to pray, Xilai ancient temple built a large-scale "Baotong Pavilion" and Shicheng in front of the temple, and built additional monk houses and Zhaitang around it. The architectural structure of Baotong Pavilion is majestic and magnificent, with unique style. There are several pairs of couplets hanging on the pavilion columns, which are full of philosophy. Baotong pavilion has become the main image of the ancient temple in Xilai. The next year, a memorial archway was built at the front entrance of the ancient temple with exquisite carving to commemorate the virtue of the Great Britain's founder.
