status
Heshun is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Yunnan, where culture is developed and people are outstanding. The famous philosopher Ai Siqi was born here. You may be surprised to say that such a small town has a long history of more than 70 years with a collection of tens of thousands of books.
In terms of the volume and scale of books, the small Heshun Library in Tengchong is not only insignificant compared with the libraries with tens of millions or hundreds of millions of books in the world, but also unmatched compared with the general provincial, local and municipal libraries with hundreds of thousands or millions of books.
However, if we put it in the position of "the first extreme city" in the southwest outpost of the motherland, in the rural environment, in the atmosphere of the hometown of overseas Chinese, in the starting point of the 1920s, and in the process of historical changes, we should at least draw the conclusion that Heshun library is China's rural library The first library in the world.
"The mountain is not high, the immortal is the name, the water is not deep, the dragon is the spirit.". The value of Heshun library is not only here.
When we follow the track of this small library along the tunnel of history, its growing process and advancing steps are actually a lofty ode, a magnificent picture, a textbook enlightening human nature and a valuable experience.

The vicissitudes of Heshun Library
"Xianxin society" organized by advanced intellectuals
After the change of gengzi in the late Qing Dynasty, the new trend of thought spread all over the country. In order to make the villagers get new knowledge and meet the needs of the times, some advanced intellectuals, such as cunfuqing, a member of the alliance and a Japanese student, initiated and organized a "Xianxin Society" in Heshun in 1905.
It is the first time that the society has purchased a batch of new knowledge books for people inside and outside the society to read, and as public books for the masses to borrow.

"Cultural heritage"
The Youth Association, a publishing house of Myanmar overseas Chinese youth organization
In the early years of the Republic of China, Cun zhongphthal, Li Qingyuan, Jia Zhusheng and Li qiunong, who lived in Myanmar, organized a "Youth Association" in wacheng, Myanmar, whose purpose was to develop the culture of their hometown. Soon after the Youth Association developed to its hometown, in 1924, it founded a "book and newspaper agency" and ordered some books and magazines from Shanghai and other places for local people to read.
From Shanghai to the border of Yunnan, due to the inconvenient transportation, the news has become historical data. So they took the transportation? 2006 train trip to Tibet horse company, summer "grazing" journey in Beijing suburb, Zen journey, Taobao record of global flea market, and changed the route from water transportation to Myanmar, then to Tengchong by horse Gang along the ancient Southwest Silk Road via Bamu, and finally to the readers. At that time, Mr. Yang cexian, a scholar, wrote a pair of couplets for the publishing house: the book was from yunbian to qikuo, and the newspaper came from overseas.
The couplet also reflects the hard won of books and newspapers at that time.
Even so, it will take more than half of the time to go dry from home. The establishment of the newspaper office is highly appreciated by the villagers.
The original library -- "chongxinhui"
In 1925, the "Youth Association" was reorganized into the "Chongxin Association". With the increasing number of members, the social influence and role became more and more important. The publishing house could no longer meet the requirements of readers. In 1928, the Chongxin Association expanded the publishing house into a library, taking the old Xianxin society as its site.
Once publicized at home and abroad, donations of books and materials have reached a climax. Some precious ancient and modern large-scale books are now collected, such as Baina edition of twenty four histories, Juzhen collection of Wuying hall, Yunnan Tongzhi, Jiutong Quanshu, xucangjing, sibuzhuan, Wanyou library, Hanwei collection, peiwenyunfu and so on It's a gift.
