The site of Gushan new castle was built in May of the second year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty, which has a history of more than 400 years. The so-called Gushan New Castle is for the old castle. The old castle is 5 kilometers southwest of the new castle. It is an important castle in Liaodong in the Ming Dynasty. The site is still indistinct.
In the first year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, Wang Daokun, Minister of the Ministry of war, read the border, and Li Chengliang, commander in chief of Liaodong, suggested that gushanbao should be moved to zhangqihaladianzi, which not only could prevent the invasion of "Donghu", but also could "reap the benefits of farming and animal husbandry". After this matter was approved, Wang Weiping, the garrison of Qinghe City, was appointed to be responsible for "building the fort and moving the troops". However, Wang Weiping was "afraid of the prisoners and labor, and pretended to be inconvenient". He did not move the Gushan fort to zhangqihaladianzi, but only built a new fort ten miles northeast of the old fort, which is now the new Chengzi Village site.
significance
GUSHAN fort was built on August 15, the third year of Wanli (1575 A.D.), with 772 silver and 610 stone grain. It is "three and five feet high in the city, two feet thick at the bottom, nine enemy platforms at the corner of the gate, all of which are built with bricks and stones, and one hundred and seventy-three official residences and military barracks." When the castle was built, it was named Gushan new castle. Although the new castle was built, because Wang Weiping was guilty of "violating the original proposal", all officials were not rewarded. In the fourth year of Wanli, there was a stele inscribed with "the story of creating a new castle on an isolated mountain" to record its events. This monument is still in the castle of Xinchengzi, which is an important cultural relic for later generations to study the local history of Benxi.
