Li Shizhen cemetery
Located in the southeast of Qizhou City, Qichun County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province, on the Bank of beautiful rain lake, covering an area of 80 mu, it is composed of Li Shizhen cemetery, Li Shizhen memorial hall, Li Shizhen medical history literature museum and medicine garden. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit and a national patriotic education demonstration base.
Brief introduction to the cemetery
Li Shizhen Cemetery: located on the Bank of beautiful rain Lake in the southeast of Qizhou City, covering an area of 80 mu, it is composed of Li Shizhen cemetery, Li Shizhen memorial hall, Li Shizhen medical history literature museum and Medicine Park. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit and a national patriotic education demonstration base. Li Shizhen's cemetery is located in xiezidi, across the lake from waxiaoba, where Li Shizhen was born. It is close to mountains and rivers, and has beautiful scenery. In ancient times, it was listed as "eight scenes of Qiyang". The original tomb and tombstone of Li Shizhen's father and son are well preserved. Li Shizhen memorial hall was inscribed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping. It is an antique (Ming Dynasty) complex. It is magnificent and well arranged. The project won the "Luban Award". A large number of precious medical materials, drug specimens and inscriptions by Guo Moruo, Deng Yingchao, Fang Yi and other comrades are displayed in the museum. Shu Tong, former chairman of the Chinese Calligrapher Association, inscribed the name of Li Shizhen medical history literature museum. It is divided into four parts: the sage in medicine, the light of science, the longevity of achievements, and the eternal life of great men. It introduces Li Shizhen's glorious life. There are more than ten editions of compendium of Materia Medica at home and abroad, as well as medical books, literature, newspapers and magazines that introduce Li Shizhen at all times and in all countries. Li Shizhen's medicine garden is the first natural museum of traditional Chinese medicine in China, which consists of two parts: medicine stele corridor and herb garden. There are 128 pieces of stone carvings of medicinal materials embedded in the inscription corridor of Materia Medica, which are exquisite and lifelike; more than 310 varieties of medicinal materials are planted in BaiCaoYuan. Since its opening to the outside world in April 1981, Li Shizhen cemetery has received an average of more than 400000 Chinese and foreign tourists every year.
Traffic information
Wuhan fujiapo long-distance station has a shuttle bus to Qichun, which stops at Qizhou town and reaches Qizhou at high speed; or take a train to Qichun railway station and transfer to CMB to Qizhou town.
Introduction to the park
On the Bank of Yuhu lake, an ancient and elegant building complex with a construction area of more than 6000 square meters stands on a 500 meter long strip. This is Li Shizhen Memorial Hall. Covering an area of 5000 square meters, the memorial hall is composed of five major departments: Herbal stele Gallery, Memorial Exhibition, medicine hall, herbal medicine garden and cemetery. The museum is surrounded by lush trees, green water, undulating slopes and hills, birds singing and flowers fragrant, just like a paradise in the world. There was a poem saying: "four hundred years of autumn moon and spring breeze, rain lake and smoke trees remember the past.".
The antique gate of the memorial is inlaid with the name of the museum inscribed by Deng Xiaoping on July 8, 1987. Inside the museum, the Bencao stele gallery is the first courtyard. 96 pieces of black marble are embedded on the white walls on both sides. The stone is engraved with the portrait of Li Shizhen painted by the famous scholar Jiang Zhaohe in 1983, biography of Li Shizhen written by Gu Jingxing, a famous writer in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, preface to the compendium of Materia Medica by Wang Shizhen, a literary leader in the Ming Dynasty, and 128 kinds of water herbs selected from the compendium of Materia Medica, At the end of the corridor, there is also a compendium of Materia Medica by Li Jianyuan, the second son of Li Shizhen, and an ancient picture of eight scenes of Qiyang, which is accompanied by a poem.
The second courtyard is a quadrangle courtyard with a "Li Shizhen Memorial Exhibition". The exhibition uses a large number of cultural relics and picture materials to show Li Shizhen's outstanding contribution and far-reaching influence in her life. The medicine hall is the central building of the whole hall. It is magnificent and has the style of Qing Dynasty mansion in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The four exhibition halls show the extensive and profound traditional Chinese medicine, the rich traditional Chinese medicine and the rich resources of traditional Chinese medicine. Through the passage of the drug Museum, I came to a small arch bridge. Looking back, I had a panoramic view of herbs. More than 100 kinds of herbaceous ecological specimens are displayed in the garden. Enter the cemetery, bypass a beautiful straight Metasequoia forest, walk along the lotus pond, and you will arrive at the graveyard covered with bluestones, which is hidden in the green pines and cypresses. On the second floor of the marble monument stands a half marble statue of Li Shizhen. On the highest floor, the tomb of Li Shizhen and his parents and their parents are built with round earth mounds of bluestone. On both sides of the platform, there are lakeside Pavilion, Dongbi Pavilion and Huichun pavilion to commemorate the medical sage. Throughout the museum area, herbal stele Gallery, Memorial Exhibition, drug museum are mainly cultural landscape, herbal garden and cemetery are mainly natural scenery. From the past to the future, it has grand specifications and reasonable layout, reflecting the characteristics of "there are museums in the garden; there are gardens in the museum", and the blend of cultural landscape and natural scenery.
Li Shizhen memorial hall has been named one of the "100 patriotic education demonstration bases" by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee. It has become a new ideal place for commemoration, education, scientific research and tourism in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, attracting thousands of tourists from home and abroad.
Introduction to Li Shizhen
Li Shizhen (1518-1593), the word Dongbi, was called Li Dongbi. He was born in 1518 A.D. in Zhengde, Emperor Wuzong of Ming Dynasty, and died in 1593 A.D. in Wanli, Emperor Shenzong of Ming Dynasty. He was a great physician and pharmacist in ancient China. Li Shizhen, referring to more than 800 medical and academic books of past dynasties, combined with his own experience and investigation, compiled compendium of Materia Medica for 27 years. It is a great summative work of ancient pharmacology in China. It has been highly appraised at home and abroad, and has been translated into several languages or sections.
In 1551, when Li Shizhen was 38 years old, he became famous as a doctor because he cured the son of Zhu houkun, the king of Fushun. He was employed by Zhu Yingyan, the king of Chu in Wuchang, as the "fengci Zheng" of the royal family, and also in charge of the affairs of the good doctors. In 1556, Li Shizhen was recommended to work in Taiyuan hospital. He was awarded the post of "supreme hospital judge". Three years later, he was recommended to Beijing rentai hospital for sentencing. After one year in office, he resigned and returned home.
Dongbitang practises medicine
Dongbi Tang was founded by Li Shizhen in 1558 when she returned from Taiyuan hospital. After resigning from office and returning home, she practiced medicine and devoted herself to the investigation and research of drugs. During this period, she established Dongbi Tang with her own name Dongbi. People at that time called Dongbi Guoyitang!
Since its publication in 1596, the book has been engraved for more than 60 times in China, and has been translated into Latin, Korean, Japanese, English, Russian, German, French and other editions abroad. It has been widely circulated all over the world and has become an important document in the international scientific community.
Mausoleum structure
Li Shizhen's mausoleum, with Li Shizhen Memorial Hall as the main body, is composed of five parts: Herbal stele Gallery, memorial hall, medicine hall, herbal medicine garden and cemetery. It is spread out on a 500 meter long strip. Covering an area of 80 mu, including a construction area of more than 6000 square meters, all of them are reinforced concrete buildings imitating Ming Dynasty buildings.
Herbal stele Gallery
From the Mountain Gate (the gate of the Memorial Hall) into the gallery, on both sides are the 80 meter long herbal stele gallery. The inner wall of the corridor is inlaid with steles of Li Shizhen's portrait, biography of Li Shizhen, the original preface of compendium of Materia Medica and 128 kinds of herbaceous specimens.
Memorial Hall
After the gallery is the memorial hall, which is a courtyard. Here are the model exhibition of Qizhou city in Ming Dynasty, the Memorial Exhibition of Li Shizhen and the statue exhibition of Li Shizhen practicing medicine. With a large number of cultural relics, photos and documents, the exhibition comprehensively and systematically introduces Li Shizhen's life and the great achievements of compendium of Materia Medica.
Pharmacy
From the memorial hall through the moon cave gate, you can see the medicine hall. There are four exhibition halls on the upper floor and the lower floor, respectively displaying the herbal works of the past dynasties, statues of ancient pharmacists, animal, plant and mineral medicine specimens, and famous and special Chinese and Western medicine products produced by key pharmaceutical factories in various provinces and cities in China.
Herb garden
Out of the medicine hall, there is a 15 mu herbal garden, where more than 100 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines are planted. The flowers are fragrant and the leaves are green all year round.
Tomb of Li Shizhen
After passing the medicine corridor of BaiCaoYuan, you enter the tomb area and bypass a larch forest. You can see Li Shizhen's tomb among the pines and cypresses on the hillside. In the middle is the tomb of Li Shizhen and his wife Wu, whose father Li Yuechi and mother Zhang are on the left, with clear inscriptions. Around the cemetery, the pines and cypresses are evergreen, the medicine garden and the flowers are fragrant and full of life. On the second floor, a marble monument stands in the middle of the platform, a bust of Li Shizhen stands on the top of the monument, and a hexagonal Memorial Pavilion stands on both sides. In front of the lotus pool in the cemetery stands a blue stone archway with four characters of "sage in medicine" engraved on it and two pairs of stone lions standing under it. The memorial archway is about 150 meters in front of the tomb.
Li Shizhen memorial hall has been designated as the patriotic education base of Hubei Province, one of the "100 national patriotic education bases for primary and secondary schools" by the State Education Commission, and one of the "100 national patriotic education demonstration bases" named by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee. It has become a new ideal place for commemoration, education, scientific research and tourism in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, attracting thousands of tourists from home and abroad.
