Babao Ruyi tower
The eight Tathagata pagodas were built by SANGJIE Longzhu, the head of the lako tribe, in the 41st year of Qianlong reign. They were built to commemorate Sakyamuni's eight great achievements in his life. Located in the center of the temple, the great golden tile hall has 1300 taels of gold and more than 10000 taels of silver as its roof. It was first built in 1560 A.D. and then in 1711 A.D. with a gold plaque of "Buddhist dharma building" given by Emperor Qianlong. In the hall stands the 12.5-meter-high Silver Tower, which is the place where zongkaba was born. The Silver Tower is made of pure silver, plated with gold, inlaid with various kinds of jewelry, and wrapped with dozens of layers of white "hada" to show its nobility. The whole building is golden and dazzling.
Introduction to architecture
Each pagoda is a typical Tibetan Pagoda with a square base and a round body. The perimeter of the base of the tower is 9.4m and the height of the tower is 6.4m. The pagoda is decorated with different shapes of lotus and eight important events of Buddha from birth to death. The pagoda is inlaid with niches. The upper part of the pagoda is in the shape of a pink white bottle. There are 13 pairs of brake rod wheels. The top of the brake rod is equipped with a raised plate, a covered plate and the sun and moon jewels.
From east to west, the eight pagodas are: Lotus gathering pagoda (commemorating the seven steps of Sakyamuni's birth and opening a lotus flower step by step); Bodhi pagoda (commemorating Sakyamuni's cultivation and becoming Zhengjue); Sidi pagoda (commemorating Sakyamuni's first turning of the four Dharma wheel); Shenbian pagoda (commemorating the miracles of Sakyamuni's fall to the outer world); descending to the mortal pagoda (commemorating Sakyamuni's return from heaven); Xizheng pagoda (commemorating Sakyamuni's return to the world) The tower of victory (in memory of Sakyamuni's victory over all demons) and the tower of Nirvana (in memory of Sakyamuni's entering the path of Nirvana and entering the immortal state).
This kind of pagoda is commonly seen in the gateways of Tibetan Buddhist temples. It is usually empty inside and contains thousands of small clay Buddha statues. However, the eight pagodas of Ta'er Temple store the clothes and crowns of the eminent monks of the past dynasties. Believers from all over the world often come here to visit the pagoda.
