Guanyinyan

Yuantong Temple has two floors, with 6 front halls and more than 10 back halls. There is a small courtyard in the south of the back hall. A mountain stone path winds to the bottom of the stream to draw water for monks. There is an alley between the two halls. Looking down from the gateway, it is very steep and dangerous. In front of the gate, a strange stone rises from the peak, which is similar to the image of "Guanyin in white" painted by the Buddhist temple. Long robe, wide sleeve collar, hood draped to the shoulder, left elbow slightly curved, skirt robe so that the feet are not exposed, the outline is very clear. In the boundless sea of clouds, it is like "water moon Guanyin". Especially in the sunset, the setting sun is more colorful. This is Guanyinyan, one of the wonders of Jiuhua.

Under the Guanyin rock, the stone peaks are like pillars, and the ancient pines are straight and graceful. There is a "Guanyin cave", also known as the "Yuantong ancient Buddha cave", which is said to be the place where the gods live. In addition, there are "Taiji cave", "rhinoceros moon" and other scenic spots.

From the nunnery, you can go up the steps to the ancient Sutra worship platform.

The origin of naming

Guanyin peak is one of the 36 small peaks in sanhuawu, Beihai, with an altitude of 1686 meters. The shape of the mountain peak is smaller, and it looks like the big land of Guanyin in the legend, so it is named. When the clouds and fog level around or the sea of clouds did not surge, the peak turned into a "Guanyin floating sea" spectacle. But see Guanyin eyes, chest slightly uplift, on the sea of clouds leisurely.

Its original name is Yuantong nunnery. It is located above the suspension bridge and under the worship platform, just like Yaotai in the air. The main hall is built on the top of the cliff, while the side hall is built on the bottom of the cliff, but it is the same height as the main hall. In fact, it is a three-story hall. The front hall has 6 rooms, and the back hall has more than 20 pavilions. Looking down from the window of the West Hall, there is a strange stone standing on the top of the peak, which is similar to the statue of "Guanyin", so the temple is called "Guanyin peak". On the platform behind the temple, you can see Guanyin peak clearly and in detail, just like Guanyin standing on the back of a chela. Beside the Guanyin stone, there is a stone standing up, the bottom is empty and porous, which is called "rotten heart stone". There is a small stone on the stone, which looks like a monkey and has hairy body. It is called "monkey Guanyin". Under the Guanyin rock, the stone peaks are like pillars, and the ancient pines are straight and graceful.
