Taihu Lake fishing village
Taihu Lake fishing village is located on the East Bank of Taihu Lake, west of Guangfu Town, Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, covering an area of 1.66 square kilometers. There are 3 natural villages and 15 villager groups in the village, with a population of 4881 and 1387 households. In October 2001, Huzhong village, Husheng village and Hufeng village were merged and renamed Huzhong village. The vast majority of the labor force is engaged in fishery production, which accounts for more than 60% of the fishing boats in Taihu Lake. With the development of tourism around Taihu Lake, Huzhong village was renamed "Taihu Lake Yugang village" in June 2005 according to the negotiation results of the villagers' Congress and the wishes of the villagers. In July 2005, Huzhong village was officially renamed "Taihu Lake Yugang village" with the approval of the people's Government of Wuzhong District.
