Buddha palm sand dune is located on the North Bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River, near the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. It is named after the Buddha palm with hands folded.

Legend: there was a village under the sand dune of Buddha's palm, named lagang village. There was a hunting expert named deduo in the village. When I went out hunting, I found a monster chasing a woman, so I saved her. The woman was originally a dragon girl. In order to thank for saving her life, I gave deduo a mirror that can foresee the future - but we must keep it a secret, otherwise it will become a turtle stone. One day, the Dragon King suddenly wanted to bury lagang village with sand dunes. When deduo saw this scene in the mirror, he told the villagers that after the villagers left the village, in the middle of the night, the village was really buried by the wind and sand, and deduo turned into a stone. After the villagers of lagang village resettled near the sand dunes, they named the new place Samba village, which means "secret village", in memory of the fact that Dedo told the secret - and the villagers who lost him never mentioned what happened that night.

Actual situation: the sand dune is located in the strong wind area in the middle and lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. From the end of autumn to the end of spring, the strong wind is like a hurricane. The river sand exposed in the dry season on the riverbed before and after the sand dune is blown, transported and accumulated year after year, forming this special landscape. In Milin County of Yarlung Zangbo River, the scale of this dune is second only to Wolong dune.
