Laodagong Temple
The laodagong temple in Keelung was originally called laodagong cemetery. The temple worships the souls of the two factions of Zhangquan in the Qing Dynasty who fought for resources. Based on the reverence for the ancestors and ghosts, when the ghost gate opens in July of the lunar calendar, the Laogong temple will open the ghost gate with a grand ceremony to save the dead. Large scale worship activities are well-known throughout Taiwan. When the ghost gate is closed, Taoists will close the ghost gate with customs such as "jumping Zhongkui" and "burning the master". Different from other temples, the laodagong temple only closes the ghost gate on August 1 of the lunar calendar, so that the dead can enjoy themselves in the sun.
