effect
Feisha weir is the key of Dujiangyan to ensure that Chengdu Plain is free from flood. Its main function is that when the water volume of Neijiang River exceeds the upper limit of baopingkou flow, the excess water will overflow from Feisha weir; in case of extraordinary flood, it will break the dike and let a large amount of river water return to the normal flow of Minjiang River. Another function is "flying sand". The Minjiang River comes from the mountains, carrying a large amount of sand and stones. If they are allowed to go down the Neijiang River, they will block baopingkou and the irrigation area. Feisha weir is really considerate and difficult for people to get rid of. It can throw the sediment and pebbles from the upstream, even the huge stones weighing a thousand jin, into the outer river (mainly by skillfully using centrifugal force) to ensure the smooth flow of the inner river.
"Deep beach, low weir" is the famous saying of Dujiangyan. Taotan refers to a section of feishayan River and a section of Neijiang River that needs to be deeply panned. The standard of deep panning is the "horizontal iron" embedded in the bottom of the river by the ancients. In order to ensure the water supply in the irrigation area, it is necessary to clean the beach until the railway is laid down. The low weir means that the flying sand weir has a certain height, and it is not suitable for high water inflow and low water inflow.
Feisha weir spillway: "spillway" has a significant function of flood discharge and sand discharge, so it is also called "Feisha Weir". Feisha weir is one of the three major parts of Dujiangyan. It looks very ordinary. In fact, its function is very great. It can be said that it is the key to ensure that the Chengdu Plain will not be affected by floods. In ancient times, Feisha weir was a temporary project built with bamboo cages and pebbles. Now, it has been cast with concrete to ensure its once and for all effect.
