Xichang Datong gate
Datong gate, also known as the south gate, is one of the four city gates (East, South, West and north gates) of jianchangwei in Ming Dynasty. After its completion in 1387, it experienced countless wars, floods, earthquakes and other disasters. Datong building was destroyed and built again, built again and again, and built again and again, and went through many vicissitudes. In 1998, the CPC Xichang Municipal Committee and the Municipal People's government resolutely decided to rebuild Datong building in accordance with the public opinion. After reconstruction, Datong building has maintained the architectural style of Ming Dynasty, restored the brick and stone walls of Ming Dynasty, relocated the units and residents who illegally occupied the walls, and restored the urn city. The reconstructed Datong building covers an area of 2800 square meters and is 23 meters high, becoming a major historical and cultural landscape in Xichang.
brief introduction
Datong tower stands high on the ancient and thick Ming Dynasty city wall. The roots of the wall are coiled and mossy, showing the old and simple of the wall. Under the tower, there are many people and traffic. Datong tower is like an old man in history, looking after his children and taking care of the grass and trees under his feet. When Xichang people talk about it, they all cherish and are proud of it.
As a famous historical and cultural city in Sichuan Province, Datong gate in Xichang has become the landmark of this historical city, and the Datong building on Datong gate is the symbol of Xichang's history and culture. In the eastern suburb of JISE Yingchun banner, the countryside is suitable everywhere after the rain.
The ten mile rice field is as flat as a palm, and the three sleeping willow lines are softer than silk.
Song's ancestral hall is always new
It is the farmers who have no time to spend their days, and the same old saying of poetry.
Zha Li, the author of this poem, was the magistrate of Ningyuan Prefecture in Xichang during the reign of Qianlong of Qing Dynasty. He was a honest and upright official supported by Xichang people. When he visited chuanxingbao in the eastern suburb during the spring ploughing season, he was deeply fascinated by the beautiful spring scenery along the Qionghai Coast: the smooth rice fields, the fresh green willows beside the water moving gracefully under the spring breeze, the dazzling green flags, and the smooth weather. What makes him happy is that he attaches great importance to the education of rites and music, the temple worship is always new, the string songs are constantly singing, and a picture of spring village full of vitality emerges.

Human history
In 1850, Xichang City was destroyed by the great earthquake. There is a poem: "when you look at the city flat in the late Ming Dynasty, who can know if you want to distinguish the streets and thoroughfares?" Datong building collapsed. The most tragic thing happened in May 1935, when Liu Yuanzhang, commander of the Chuankang border defense force of the Kuomintang in Chang, openly ordered the West Street and Shuncheng Street to be burned in order to prevent the Red Army from entering the city. Three days and three nights of blazing fire have turned Datong building into a piece of ashes, and once hundreds of years of success have been destroyed. From then on, Datong building disappeared from Xichang City.
After the liberation of Xichang, due to the constraints of economic conditions, it was unable to recover and rebuild. During the cultural revolution, Datong gate became a stronghold for the rebels. Some departments and units took advantage of the chaos to occupy Datong gate for their own, digging and destroying the city wall, or building houses, or building warehouses. The common people are all distressed. After the reform and opening up, Xichang step by step embarked on the road of development.
