Changle Temple
Changle temple, also known as Huanglong Temple, is located at the foot of Huanglong Mountain, Changle Town, Pengxi County, Sichuan Province. It is said that the temple was founded in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. According to the official history, the temple was built in 638, the 12th year of Zhenguan in the Tang Dynasty. Later, due to the destruction of military disaster, the base site of the northern and Southern Song dynasties in the Five Dynasties was only left. It was rebuilt by Jingying monk in the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty (1426-1436), and continued to be built in the Ming Dynasty, Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.
Changle temple is a cultural relic protection unit in Sichuan Province.
Brief introduction to the temple
According to the records of Pengxi County of Sichuan Province in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty and the records of xiuchangle Temple written by poet Xi Dazhuang in Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty, the temple was built in 638 (the 12th year of Zhenguan of Tang Dynasty), and the Seng sea is now in its infancy. The sect of Changle temple is pure land sect. The existing buildings are front and back courtyard, compound courtyard layout, Jiedian five fold, covering an area of 26013 (39.35 mu) square meters, building area of 2859 square meters. In the front yard, there are Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, Guixiang Hall (Guanyin Hall), Hongren Pavilion, mingdaoxuan, and Sutra collection building. Among them, Daxiong hall is a single eaves Xieshan style roof and beam lifting style beam frame, with 20 Dou arches under the eaves, eight rafters and four columns in front and back of the house. The width of three rooms is 14.8 meters, the depth of three rooms is 14.8 meters, and the height is 8.1 meters. The temple is built on the mountain, with winding halls and corridors, three arches and a flat bridge across the temple. There are many ancient cypresses and Coptis trees. There is Huanglong Mountain behind the temple. Pengshui huiwangjia river meanders through the right side of the mountain and flows down around the front of the temple. There are many trees around the temple and Huanglong Mountain, which have been planted by monks for thousands of years and are still lush.
The buildings of Changle temple were not built after the first battle, but gradually expanded. They were first built in different years, with different words and reputation (it was first said in the Han Dynasty). According to the Daoguang edition of the Qing Dynasty "Pengxi county annals · temples", Changle temple, 50 miles northwest of the county, was built in the year of Zhenguan in the Tang Dynasty. It was built again in Xuande year of Ming Dynasty. It was expanded in the 25th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. " In the decade of the Republic of China, a new rear hall was built. Changle temple has a long history, is well-known far and near, and enjoys great popularity. Therefore, in the early and middle Qing Dynasty, a town named Changle temple was built under the fort slope half a mile away from the temple. It has been more than 300 years since the temple was named.
The building complex of Changle temple is divided into two halls. Daxiong hall is the most characteristic, and its style is rare.
Research value
There are many trees in Changle temple and Huanglong Mountain. There are more than 30 kinds of trees, more than 1000 trees in total, with a total volume of 138.6 cubic meters. There is one ancient cypress, one Coptis chinensis and one Podocarpus arvensis between Wuliang hall and the Sutra collection building in the front yard, all of which are over 1000 years old. Among them, Luohan pine is 14.34 meters in height, 2.35 meters in girth, 0.7193 meters in breast height diameter, 8.5 meters in crown width and 2.32 cubic meters in wood volume. Compared with Luohan pine recorded in Chinese arborology, although it is 5.66 meters shorter, its breast height diameter is 0.1197 meters larger, which is the highest in China and has great research value.
Changle temple was opened by Pengxi county government of Sichuan Province in 1986 and became a provincial cultural relic reserve of Sichuan Province in 2007.
