Luoshan National Nature Reserve
synonym
Luoshan nature reserve generally refers to Luoshan National Nature Reserve
Luoshan National Nature Reserve is located in Tongxin County, Southern Ningxia. Luoshan nature reserve effectively blocks the southward invasion of Maowusu Desert. It is a green ecological barrier in central Ningxia and an important water conservation forest area in central Ningxia. It is known as "mother mountain" and "desert Emerald" by local people.
Luoshan Nature Reserve was founded on July 1, 1982 and established as a National Nature Reserve in July 2002, covering an area of 33710 hectares. It mainly protects the typical forest ecosystem with Picea crassifolia and Pinus tabulaeformis as building species, rare wild animals and plants such as golden eagle and their habitats, as well as the unique natural landscape in the natural area.
Historical evolution
In 1982, Luoshan nature reserve became one of the first provincial nature reserves in Ningxia.
In 2002, Luoshan Nature Reserve was promoted to National Nature Reserve.
geographical position
Luoshan National Nature Reserve is located in Tongxin County in the south of Ningxia, 50 kilometers away from Tongxin county and 25 kilometers away from Hongsipu district. The geographical coordinates are 37 ° 11 ′ - 37 ° 25 ′ N and 106 ° 04 ′ - 106 ° 24 ′ E.
Geology and geomorphology
Luoshan Nature Reserve has many gullies, which can be divided into "irrigation area in the west, dry mountainous area in the middle and dry farming plateau area in the East" according to different geological landforms.
soil
The main soil types in Luoshan nature reserve are calcareous soil and cinnamon soil.
climate
Luoshan nature reserve is a typical temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons, abundant sunshine and large temperature difference between day and night.
Regional scope
The Luoshan Nature Reserve has a total area of about 33710 hectares (including 9645 hectares of core area, 8787 hectares of buffer area and 15278 hectares of experimental area). The main peak of "hero geta" with an altitude of 2624.5 meters is the highest peak in central Ningxia.
Protection target
plant resources
There are 275 species of higher plant resources belonging to 170 genera and 65 families in Luoshan National Nature Reserve. The main protected objects are typical forest ecosystem with Picea crassifolia and Pinus tabulaeformis as constructive species, rare wild animals and plants, their habitats and unique natural landscape in the area.
Picea crassifolia
Picea crassifolia is a arbor with a height of 23 meters and a diameter at breast height of 30-60 cm. It is an endemic tree species in China. It grows in Qilian mountain area and Qinghai Province (east of Dulan and north of Xiqing mountain). It often forms pure forest in valley and shady slope.
Animal resources
There are 22 orders, 114 species and 82 subspecies of wild animal resources in Luoshan National Nature Reserve. Among them, 22 species, such as golden eagle, leopard cat and lynx, belong to the national key protected wild animals, 20 species belong to the protected species stipulated by the autonomous region, 22 species are listed in the cites, 25 species belong to the protected species stipulated in the Sino Japanese migratory bird protection agreement, and 3 species belong to the genus of birds Protected species under the agreement on the protection of migratory birds between China and Australia.
Golden Eagle
The golden eagle is a large Raptor with a total length of 76-102 cm, a wingspan of 2.3 meters and a weight of 2-6.5 kg. It is a resident bird in the mountains of northeast and central and Western China; it mainly inhabits in alpine grassland and coniferous forest areas, but rarely in plains. It is ferocious and powerful. It preys on doves, pigeons, pheasants, quails, rabbits and even young musk deer.
ecological value
Luoshan nature reserve mainly protects the forest, grassland and desert ecosystems represented by Picea crassifolia and Pinus tabulaeformis. Coniferous pure forest is the most stable forest vegetation community in the nature reserve, and it is also the climax of forest vegetation succession in the nature reserve. There are alpine grassland vegetation types between them, forming the natural landscape of alpine and semi-arid forest vegetation. Excellent environmental conditions provide sufficient living space for animals and plants.
Management status
In 2009, the Management Office of Luoshan National Nature Reserve was under the direct leadership of the forestry bureau of the autonomous region. By continuing to organize and implement the natural forest protection project, the "Three North" phase IV afforestation project, the second phase construction project of the National Nature Reserve and the Sino German cooperative afforestation project, the reserve has closed 150000 mu of mountains for afforestation and newly built 30000 mu of forest land, increasing the forest coverage rate of Luoshan from 9.4% to 40%. Improve the water conservation capacity of Luoshan and improve the overall function of regional climate.
Utilization value
Scientific research value
In 2009, the Agricultural College of Ningxia University cooperated with the administration of Luoshan National Nature Reserve to carry out the project of "investigation of plant and insect resources in Luoshan mountain of Ningxia". The college organized relevant professional teachers and students to conduct comprehensive investigation in Luoshan National Nature Reserve for many times, and collected more than 14000 plant and insect specimens. After three years of field investigation and office work, 366 species of plants belonging to 204 genera of 65 families and 872 species of insects belonging to 591 genera of 167 families of 20 orders were identified.
In 2010, Luoshan National Nature Reserve and Ningxia University jointly investigated and identified the resources in the reserve, and found a herb, B. bicaule helmin MEM, which was not recorded in Ningxia flora and was a new record species in Ningxia.
