Pingdao

Pingdao is located in the north of Lingling District, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, at the confluence of the two rivers of Xiaoxiang. It is a famous scenic spot in Yongzhou. It has enjoyed a high reputation since the Tang and Song dynasties. This scene is one of the "eight sceneries of Xiaoxiang". It is also the first of the "eight sceneries of Yongzhou".

Every spring and summer, the water rises, standing on the island Shiji, look around, Huangye ancient ferry, dragon pagoda, river sky, wind and moon, Yuanpu sailing, fishing boat singing late, picturesque poetry, all into the eye. The island is like a boat floating with the water. Every time the drizzle falls all over the sky, visitors can lie down on Pingdao at night and listen to the river waves with a cup of fragrant tea in their hands, or walk alone by the river with a Luo umbrella in their hands to enjoy the quiet atmosphere and hazy beauty brought by the misty night rain. History of Pingdao

Eight Li north of Lingling City, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, where Xiaoshui and Xiangshui meet, there is a small island, formerly known as pinzhou, also known as Pingdao and Fuzhou. It is surrounded by water on all sides. It is clean and quiet. It is more than 600 meters around. On the island, there are ancient trees, bamboo and banana trees, and the scenery is beautiful.

A long time ago, it was a big sandbar with only one bow. The Xiangjiang River flows from the West and the Xiaoshui river flows from the south. Whenever the spring rain pours and the flood surges, it swallows the island. When she passed Lingling, she was in the middle of the flood. The boatman accidentally touched the beach and shook her boat. She threw down a scarf. When the Dragon God got the reward, she rushed out three golden ducks and arched up the island. From then on, the island floated and sank with the water.

It is located at the confluence of Xiaoxiang River and Xiaoxiang river. The boats are flying. The sails match the bamboo forest in the island. The sound of the oars resonates with the birds on the island. It is poetic and picturesque. The scenery is pleasant. Therefore, it is called "spring rising in Pingzhou". It is one of the famous places in Yongzhou. "Xiaoxiang night rain" in the eight sceneries of Xiaoxiang refers to this place.

In the past, there were Xiaoxiang ancestral temple and Xiangkou hall for Mongolian students. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, Wang Debang and others founded the Binzhou academy here. In 1889, there were eight students in Pingzhou Academy who were selected as Gongsheng. Since then, the name of Yinzhou Academy was Yisheng, the highest institution in eight counties of Yongzhou. After the revolution of 1911, it was changed into Pingzhou Academy. Most of the ancient buildings have been demolished and rebuilt, but the ancient stone road in the center of the school is still green and shiny, with golden osmanthus and green leaves on both sides, and ancient camphor with hanging bamboo. The tall buildings are covered in the shade, with spring flowers and autumn osmanthus, fragrant and refreshing. Standing at the head of the island, looking at the Xiangjiang River galloping north, looking up at the blue sky and flying through the clouds, people are full of imagination and forget to return.
