Sui dynasty embankments along the Grand Canal
Sui dyke is located in the old road of Bianhe River between Shangqiu City and Yongcheng city.
The Jiqu canal was opened in the first year of Daye (605) of the Sui Dynasty, and embankments were built on both sides to plant peaches and willows for Yang Guang of the Sui Dynasty to visit the south of the Yangtze River in a dragon boat. At present, the river channel is silted up and the dike site still exists.
Historical development
Sui dyke, the name of ancient dyke, originally meant to be the Grand Canal dyke of Sui Dynasty. The former site is located in the old road of Bianhe River between Shangqiu City and Yongcheng City, running through Xiayi City, connecting biandao in the West and Taiqiu in the East.
It was built in the Sui Dynasty, so it was named. In the first year of Daye of emperor Yang of Sui Dynasty, Jiqu was opened to lead the valley water and Luoshui into the Yellow River from Xiyuan, the Yellow River from Banzhu to bianshui and the Huaihe River through Sishui, and the Hangou to the Yangtze River from Shanyang to Yangzi. The canal is 40 steps wide, with a royal road built beside it. Willows are planted in rows with flowing water. It runs from the Yellow River in the west to the Huaihe River in the East, with a feeling of green shadow. Bai Juyi of Tang Dynasty wrote the poem Sui Diliu: "the Sui Diliu is old and decaying. The wind is blowing and the rain is rustling. There are three trees and two trees in bianhekou." Liu Yuxi of the Tang Dynasty wrote in willow catkins: "where is the wind like snow, the Sui River dyke is on the ancient Jiangjin." In Jian Jie Lu, the voice of the fallen state, written by He Guangyuan of the later Shu Dynasty, "the Yangdi emperor opened the Bianhe River and planted willows, which has been called" Sui dyke. " Song Zhou Bangyan "Lanling king" words: "Sui embankment, have seen several times, blowing water floating Mian send line color."
Sui dyke is located in the middle of Yongcheng city on Zheng (Zhou) Yong (Cheng) highway. It starts from Zhengdian of Mamu Township in the West and ends at Huzhuang of houling Township in the East. It stretches for 45 kilometers and is in the shape of mound, 0.5-2 meters above the ground. Ji canal was opened in the first year of Daye (605) of Sui Dynasty. A royal road was built beside the canal, and green willows were planted in a row for Yangdi Yang Guang to visit Jiangnan in dragon boat. In the Northern Song Dynasty, it was called Bianhe river. After the river was silted, the dike site still exists. This is an obvious section of the old site of the embankment. In the old days, "Sui Diyan willow" was one of the eight sceneries of Yongcheng.
