Development history
Sunwen West Road, where the museum is located, is an 800 year old street built in Sui and Tang Dynasties. The location of the museum was once known as "Shiqi shibajian" in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,
architectural composition
The exhibition hall of Zhongshan commercial and Cultural Museum has a total area of more than 2100 square meters, which is divided into three floors, and each floor is subdivided into different commercial themes. The museum has a total collection of more than 2000 exhibits and more than 400 exhibits on display. Among them, the representative exhibits are the stocks of Kaiping Mining Bureau and Yuehan railway, the wooden plate of Zheng Guanying's mission during the reign of Guangxu, the Yu Bao founded by Rong Hong, the land certificate of Xianshi company, and the first issue of Yong'an monthly founded by Yong'an company.
The first floor of the museum is mainly divided into the preface hall, the first exhibition hall and the ruins of the temple. In the preface hall, there are five founders of Yong'an monthly, founded by Xiangshan Yong'an company in modern times
The exhibition hall on the second floor mainly shows the business ideas of Xiangshan celebrities in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China and the influence of Xiangshan compradors on Modern China. Among the business ideas of Xiangshan celebrities, Sun Yat Sen's business philosophy of "taking agriculture as the classics and commerce as the weft" and Zheng Guanying's "business war thought" are the most representative. As for the compradors of Xiangshan nationality, according to relevant statistics, from 1830 to 1900, 90% of the compradors of four British foreign firms in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Hankou and Jiujiang accounted for Xiangshan people. In addition to the display of materials, objects and pictures, the exhibition hall on this floor also shows the restoration of scenes such as Zheng's house, China Merchants Steamship Company and comprador's home, which reproduces the real life and work scenes of commercial celebrities and compradors in those years.
The exhibition hall on the third floor mainly displays the relevant information of the four famous department stores in the modern commercial history of China. The founders of the four department stores, Xianshi, Yongan, Xinxin and Daxin, are all from Xiangshan. In addition to the information and pictures of the four major department stores, the exhibition hall on this floor also displays the stocks, land certificates, wrapping paper, commodities printed with the trademarks of the four major department stores, and other physical objects. In addition, the exhibition hall is also equipped with "Yong'an company" fruit column, "Xianshi company" shoes department, "Daxin company" elevator, "Xinxin company" rooftop garden and other scenes.
