The Prajna spring in Wutai Mountain is located in the northwest of Puhua temple and the Northeast behind the temple. The spring water is clear and delicious, flowing day and night. The word "Banbo Ruo" is a Sanskrit translation, meaning wisdom. In history, Prajna spring was regarded as "holy water" by Buddhists and was once a tribute. It is said that Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty visited Mt. Wutai without drinking. Emperor Qianlong wrote an inscription in his own hand: "in the evening, the waves of the floating cup rise, and in the morning, they fly to mend it." he was very impressed by the tonic effect of Prajna spring. According to the determination, Prajna spring and its nearby mineral water contain 14 kinds of trace chemical elements necessary for human body. Drinking it often has certain preventive and therapeutic effects on cardiovascular, cerebrovascular and nervous system diseases.

There is a folk legend about Prajna spring. According to legend, in the Tang Dynasty, there was a monk named Huiqian who built several thatched cottages in the Dabai pagoda to chant sutras and practice. At that time, monks and laymen had to go far and far to choose water. In winter, dripping water turns into ice, and the road is covered with white flowers, like a layer of glass. People who carry water often fall to the ground. It is a monk's duty to accumulate virtue and do good deeds. In order to relieve people's suffering, Huiqian meditates and recites the Vajra Sutra day and night on the hillside. He believes that one day, he will move the Buddha and send divine water. It turned out that before Huiqian, there were two monks who had read sutras and asked for water. The first one to recite the Sutra survived the wind and the sun, the frost and the rain. In the evening of 9998 days, suddenly two tigers came. He was scared out in a cold sweat and did not dare to recite sutras any more. Of course, he did not recite any more. The second chanter survived the frost, the rain, and the tiger's threat. One night, a fierce god suddenly came down from the sky, holding a sword with his hair, pointing to the tip of the monk's nose and saying, "if you want to read one more sentence, I'll make you eight petals!" The monk did not dare to read it any more, so he had to give up. Of course, he did not read it. Huiqian is the third one who wants water. Now, 9999 days have passed, wind and sun, frost and rain, tiger threat, threat, and so on The sky is the night of the first ten thousand days. The setting sun has already set, and the sunset has also been taken back. The bright moon rises from the East, radiating a quiet radiance. Just then, an old man with white beard came to Huiqian. Huiqian was still sitting there, reciting the Vajra Sutra word by word. The old man asked, "how many days has the master been chanting scriptures?" Huiqian was chanting scriptures and couldn't answer. She just nodded to the old man with a smile. Whether Huiqian answers or not, the old man is determined to finish what he says. He took another step forward, put on a sincere look and said: "the master probably knows that the day when the spring gushes is the time when you are dead. In another half an hour, the Vajra Sutra will be finished, and you will be dead. The master has been practicing for many years, but he has no success. You have to weigh the weight of it With that, the old man walked away with a crutch.

Huiqian is at the critical moment of his life and death. As long as he stops reciting the Vajra Sutra, all the 9999 days will be gone. 9999 days, 27 or 8 years! He didn't think any more and continued to read. After a while, with the sound of "buzzing" and a stream of fragrant spring water gushing out, Huiqian was so happy that she laughed. However, when he was laughing, he could not move, leaving people a "ha ha" smile. The fragrant spring has been flowing for many years, and later generations named it Prajna spring.
