Alpine moraine lake, which was formed in Quaternary glacial activities more than two million years ago, is a world-famous alpine lake with an altitude of 1980 meters and a half moon shape. It was listed as the first batch of national key scenic spots in 1982.

Deep in the snow mountains on both sides of the Nujiang River, there are numerous high moraine lakes. Most of the glacial lakes are distributed above 3500 meters above sea level, and the highest is close to 4000 meters, with few people. At the turn of spring and summer, the ice disappears and the snow melts. Where the snow recedes, the flowers bloom. From the mountain to the lake, there is a sea of flowers everywhere. The clear water of the lake reflects the boundless primeval forest and the open blue sky. The snow makes the alpine azalea more colorful. April to October is the best season for mountaineering. During this season, local people go to the mountains to dig medicine, collect orchids and catch snow fish in the lake. The precious medicinal materials on the mountain include Cordyceps, Fritillaria, Ganoderma lucidum, cicada flower and Huanglian, and the orchid varieties in Nujiang are also the most abundant. In this season, the ice lake country is also the most concentrated habitat for wild animals. In the warm spring and blooming season, they come here in groups to feed and drink, and to have children and mate.

No one has ever counted exactly how many high mountain lakes there are, but the local people will tell you that you can never finish. There are more than ten high mountain lakes on Biluo snow mountain above 3800 meters in Fugong County. The largest is Qilian lake or qixiannu Lake in Biluo snow mountain in the northeast of Pihe Township. Seven small lakes are scattered, like a mirror in the mountains. Toads in the lake are as big as a millstone. Snowfish sometimes jump out of the lake. The lake is surrounded by snow mountains, forests, meadows, sea of flowers and strange rocks. The scenery is very beautiful. There is also a lake that people often visit. It is called Dayou lake, and it is called "guonailubi" in Lisu language. From shangpa of Fugong County, along the side of Biluo snow mountain, there is a small road leading to Weixi. When the road was not built, people in Fugong went in and out of Nujiang River along this road. It's about 7 or 8 hours' walk to gonerubi. The perimeter of the lake is about 3 kilometers, and the Fargesia forest is green. Set up a tent by the lake, dig the hole of the stove, burn the water, and then go to the mountain to dig dangshen, cockscomb fungus and sesame leaf vegetables, then you can cook. When the snow and ice melt, the people at the foot of the mountain go to the lake to collect wild vegetables, collect Fritillaria, Scutellaria, Huanghua and Danhuang, which is used to treat abdominal pain. Walk up the mountain for about 20 minutes. There are some smaller lakes near Yakou of Xueshan. It is 3800 meters above sea level. There are no trees around, only low shrubs and bryophytes. If you go over the top of the mountain, you will be Vichy. On the way down the mountain, you can dig Aconitum kusnezoffii from the mountainside at an altitude of about 2000-2500. People use it to treat a variety of diseases.

Blue moon in Longtan

Longtan refers to the "West small Tianchi" which is located about 2km below Tianchi and 1660m above sea level on the west side of Panshan highway. It is said that it was a foot basin used by Queen Mother of the West. In fact, it was a deep pool of stagnant water formed in the low-lying area where the water of Tianchi Lake leaked through the thick ice stains of the underground dam. At night, the bright moon is in the sky, and the shadow of the trees and the blue moon are reflected in the pool. The still shadow sinks into the wall, and the shadow of the moon trembles slightly. A poem praises "a great green flows into the dragon pool, green pines and white snow inlaid with green plates, and the golden autumn moon sinks into the bottom of the wall. It is suspected that Chang'e is out of the cold." Look at the snow in Nanshan. Standing on the moraine dam of Tianchi Lake, tourists look south at Bogda snow mountain, but see "snow in the distance, pine near, wild flowers like brocade, green and red.". The scenery of lakes and mountains is splashed with ink, and the scenery of spring, summer, autumn and winter melts together "(Xie Yukang). The view of this scenic spot is like a fairyland.

According to the legend of Dinghaishenzhen, there is a water monster in Tianchi Lake, who often exerts lewd power and makes waves. The water of the Tianchi lake rises and inundates the residents, leaving the people homeless and wandering around. One year, the queen mother held a grand peach party in Tiangong. At the meeting, all kinds of immortals were invited, but the water monster of Tianchi was forgotten to be invited. The water monster is not happy, vent his anger. In an instant, the muddy waves were surging and the floods overflowed. The heavenly soldier reported to the queen mother, who was very angry. She immediately took down a jade hairpin from her head and threw it into the water. The water was calm and the stone came out. The jade hairpin turned into an elm. From then on, he grew up beside the water of Tianchi and became the treasure of Zhenshui. The elm tree, which was transformed from the jade hairpin on the head of the queen mother, was called "dinghaishen needle" by later generations.

Hanging pot waterfall

There is an artificial sluice on the end moraine dike of glacier in the northeast of the lower reaches of Tianchi Lake, which forms a waterfall. The waterfall runs straight down the rocky rapids. It is called "dongxiaotianchi" because of the sound of the waterfall. The environment here is very secluded. The North Bank of dongxiaotianchi is a precipice with a height of 100 meters. It flows silver and jade. The sound of the waterfall is like thunder. Under the sunlight, the rainbow dances, forming a beautiful scene of "hanging spring and waterfall".
