Zhugou revolutionary martyrs cemetery
The cemetery displays the life stories of the martyrs, i.e. revolutionary cultural relics and documents. After the monument was completed in 1987, people from all over the country came here to pay homage to the martyrs, with an annual average of more than 20000 people. Green mountains and green waters, towering monument, like a lighthouse, will always instruct the revolutionary people to forge ahead. Zhugou revolutionary memorial was built in 1956. Premier Zhou Enlai inscribed the plaque of "Zhugou revolutionary memorial in Queshan".
In February 2020, in order to pay homage to the benevolence of doctors and praise the great love of the world, Zhugou revolutionary martyrs cemetery will be reopened until December 31, 2020.

Zhugou revolutionary martyrs cemetery in Queshan is a national classic scenic spot of red tourism. Located in the north of Zhugou Town, Queshan County, Zhumadian City, Henan Province, it is 40 kilometers away from Zhumadian City, opposite to Zhugou revolutionary memorial hall. It is built to commemorate and remember the proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation and the revolutionary martyrs who died during the Anti Japanese War, honor their contributions and forge ahead for future generations. Zhugou revolutionary martyrs cemetery is located on the Bank of Zhugou lake, close to mountains and rivers, facing south, covering an area of 188 mu.

significance
Zhugou is an important revolutionary base during the democratic revolution of our party. Comrade Liu Shaoqi, Li Xiannian, Peng Xuefeng, Zhang Zhen and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation have worked and fought here. During the Anti Japanese War, it was the birthplace of the Central Plains Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the Henan provincial Party committee, the Zhugou prefectural Party committee, the Zhugou left behind area of the New Fourth Army, and the backbone of the second, fourth, fifth, third and seventh divisions of the New Fourth Army. It was known as the "cradle of revolution" and "little Yan'an". The important role of Zhugou aroused great hatred from the diehards of the Kuomintang. On November 11, 1939, Zhugou massacre killed more than 200 soldiers and civilians of the New Fourth Army.
Construction history
After the national liberation, the CPC Henan Provincial Committee and the provincial people's Government approved the construction of Zhugou revolutionary martyrs cemetery. During the cultural revolution, it was seriously damaged. After the end of the cultural revolution, with the approval of the state authorities, 7.45 million yuan was invested in the reconstruction. On November 14, 1984, with the approval of the State Council, the Henan provincial Party committee and the provincial government held the commencement ceremony of the "Zhugou revolutionary monument" in the Zhugou cemetery. President Li Xiannian inscribed the name of the monument. On October 1, 1986, it was approved by the State Council as the national key martyr building protection unit; after the monument was completed in April 1987, it was designated as the patriotic education base of Henan Province. On October 10, 1988, the provincial Party committee and the provincial government solemnly held the inauguration ceremony of the "Zhugou revolutionary monument" in Zhugou. More than 1600 local people and proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation who had fought in Zhugou participated in the ceremony. In May 1993, Zhugou revolutionary martyrs cemetery was named as' moral education base for primary and secondary schools' by Henan Provincial People's government. In 1998, on the occasion of commemorating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Central Plains Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the 100th anniversary of Liu Shaoqi's birth, the cemetery raised 750000 yuan in various ways to rearrange the two exhibition halls of "Zhugou Massacre" and "Central Plains beacon fire", which represented the great achievements and fighting scenes of the revolutionary predecessors in that year in the form of pictures and texts, and enriched the content of commendatory education. It has become a revolutionary traditional education base for Party members and cadres in Henan Province and Jinan Military Region.
In 2009, it was named "national patriotism education base", "Henan national defense education base", "Henan patriotism education base", "Henan primary and secondary school students moral education base".
layout
The gate of the cemetery is an antique archway style building, and the "Zhugou revolutionary martyrs cemetery" is inscribed by general Zhang Aiping. There are two exhibition halls on both sides of the cemetery square.
East Exhibition Hall, Zhugou massacre. Preface hall is Li Xiannian's inscription for Ling Yuan, a revolutionary martyr in Zhugou. The exhibition hall is divided into seven parts: 1. Main contents: 1. Liu Shaoqi led Zhongyuan bureau to withdraw from Zhugou (oil painting); 2. Liu Shaoqi's instructions to withdraw from Zhugou; 3. Liu Shaoqi led Zhongyuan bureau to withdraw from Zhugou. 2、 Wind and rain are coming. Main contents: 1. Instruction; 2. Secret letter, etc. 3、 Shooting at dawn. Main contents: 1. Geng Mingxuan's order to attack Zhugou; 2. Brave resistance (oil painting); 3. Victory breakthrough (oil painting). 4、 Zhugou massacre. Free policy
In February 2020, in order to pay homage to the benevolence of doctors and praise the great love of the world, Zhugou revolutionary martyrs cemetery will be reopened until December 31, 2020. All medical workers in the country can visit the scenic spots with valid certificates (ID card + doctor card or nurse card) and enter the park free of charge, and open green channels for medical workers.
