From Changdu town down the Lancang River, and then into the West wengou, about 3 hours to the famous Bangda grassland. At an altitude of about 4200 meters, it is a wide and flat source basin on the main ridge of taniantaweng mountain, which is the watershed between Lancang River and Nujiang River. The upper reaches of Yuqu River, the East Branch of Nujiang River, meanders and twists. The broad low wet beach on both banks grows dense and low Kobresia Meadow Plants. Bangda grassland is more than 80 kilometers long and about 20 kilometers wide. The terrain is flat. The grassland is fertile. Bangda airport, the highest airport in the world, is located on the grassland to the north of Bangda. It was completed and opened in 1995. The north and South routes of Sichuan Tibet highway also meet again, reaching Lhasa via Changdu and Jianghe in the north, and entering Sichuan via Mangkang in the south.
summary
The upper reaches of Yuqu, a tributary of Nujiang River, meanders through it. On the broad low wet beach on both sides of the river, there are dense and low meadow plants such as Artemisia ordosica and Carex. The grass is as green as a blanket. In addition to flocks of cattle and sheep wandering there for food, there are also some Tibetan antelopes occasionally. The picture shows Bangda grassland in winter. The grass is withered and yellow, which is a little bleak and desolate, lacking some vitality. However, because it is located in the eastern part of Tibet, the precipitation is slightly more than that in the central and western parts of Tibet, and the growth of forage is good. This is an excellent natural grassland in Tibet, and the animal husbandry is relatively developed.
The unique and abundant grassland environment also makes Bangda the main production area of many important medicinal plants, such as Fritillaria, ginseng fruit, rhubarb, Gentiana macrophylla and Hongjingtian, among which the most famous is Cordyceps sinensis, which is very valuable.
This used to be the only place for the famous "tea horse ancient road" in the past. Sichuan Tibet, Sichuan Yunnan and other highways connecting Tibet with Sichuan, Yunnan, Qinghai and other neighboring provinces have been opened up. In 1995, Bangda airport was set up on this plateau, and the air route from Changdu to Chengdu has been opened up. At an altitude of 4330 meters, the airport is the highest and longest runway in the world. The completion of Bangda airport greatly shortened the journey and time from Changdu to Chengdu. In the past, the road from Changdu to Chengdu was about 1200 kilometers long. It took at least three or four days to cross five or six big snow mountains and the deep valleys of Lancang River, Jinsha River, Yalong River and Dadu River. Today, less than two hours' air voyage can easily cross the Hengduan Mountains and travel between Bangda and Chengdu, greatly strengthening the economic ties and cultural exchanges between Changdu and the mainland, and effectively promoting the social development of Changdu.
