One of them said: "I suspect that the rain suddenly shines at night, but the mountain springs sing all night. When we reach Qianxi, we can't say a word. We make a lot of noise in the mountains. "
Historical evolution
Lingjiu temple, formerly known as Baoji temple, is the earliest existing temple in the county. It dates back 1200 years. According to Tongzhi county annals of the Qing Dynasty, "Baoji temple was built between Tang Yuanhe (806-820 A.D.) and lingjiu temple in the 39th capital (now in shehou township of Guangfeng county). According to the description of Abbot Shi Jingli in the early days of liberation, it was founded by the monks of Lingyin Temple, Mingdao and Zhikai. It's said that Mingdao and Zhikai came to Jiangxi from Hangzhou city to visit famous mountains and scenic spots. When they entered lingjiu mountain, they saw mountains overlapping and clouds circling around the peaks, flying like a vulture bird. There were five peaks on it, which were magnificent and magnificent, similar to the five peaks of Lingyin mountain in Hangzhou. It is said: "the spirit vulture flies here, which is also a place to spread the Dharma.". Therefore, the temple was built on the mountain, which was named Baoji Buddhist temple. It belonged to Linji family with Lingyin Temple. The Baoji Buddhist temple, which was built in the early days, was not large in scale. Instead of a Buddhist temple, the Dharma hall was used as a meeting place for preaching Buddhism and converting to Buddhism, and the monk hall was used as a place for Buddhist monks to practice Buddhism.
In the Five Dynasties (907-959). During the Yuan Dynasty (1260-1368), the county set up a monk department to manage the affairs of monks in the county, which was very strict with the Han Buddhism. During the reign of emperor Qingjian (1312-1313), the monk department was abolished, and the abbot of the temple was appointed to manage the affairs of monks himself, thus rebuilding the temple. At this time, Baoji Buddhist temple was renamed lingjiu temple.
In 1382, the county set up the monk association department in lingjiu temple, and sent the monk officials to lingjiu temple to manage the monk affairs of the whole county. The main task was to supervise the monks' opinions and take charge of the examination. At this time, lingjiu temple had become the activity center of Buddhism in the whole county. In 1391, Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang of Ming Dynasty ordered that only one large temple should be reserved in the county. Most of the temples and nunneries were abandoned, but lingjiu temple was preserved due to the establishment of monks' Association Department, which maintained a certain grand occasion.
Buddhism in the Qing Dynasty inherited the system of the Ming Dynasty. In the early Qing Dynasty, because of years of war, the people were in dire need of livelihood, and temples did not make any achievements. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1736-1785), the Zen style was gradually restored, the zongmen was revived, the temple took on a new look and the Buddhism was prosperous. In 1875, lingjiu Temple reached its historical peak.
During the Cultural Revolution
During the cultural revolution, temples were severely damaged, monks were driven down the mountain, and normal religious activities were forced to stop.
After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, the party and the government implemented the policy of freedom of religious belief. In 1982, lingjiu temple's real estate, ponds and fields were all returned to the monks for management. In October of the next year, the people's Government of the county approved it as a key open temple. In June of 1984, the people's Government of the province approved it as a key open temple. In 1986, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit of Guangfeng county. Thus, the monks returned to the temple one after another, ringing the morning bell and evening drum again, and resumed their normal religious activities.
Rajgir
Also known as Lingshan, there are many scenic spots in the mountain. "Jiangxiang cave" is located in the east side of lingjiu. The cave is 6 meters high and 200 meters long. It looks like a dragon. The stalactites in the cave are rugged, hanging in the air, and scattered, forming a unique scenery.
The entrance of the cave is quite like a bull's head.
