The dolomite is mainly composed of calcium and magnesium carbonate. After a long period of wind and rain, the calcareous weathering leaves magnesium. Therefore, many beautiful rock paintings and realistic rocks are formed, such as "lion with tree" and "crocodile with pine". Other geological and geomorphic phenomena are the products of weathering, denudation and dissolution of dolomite monoclinic strata of Gaoyuzhuang Formation with siliceous bands and siliceous nodules along multi-directional joints, such as "strange stone forest". In December 2001, Jixian County was approved by the Ministry of land and resources to establish Tianjin Jixian National Geopark. Jiulongshan carbonate peak cluster scenic area is a part of the Geopark. In the long history of the site, rocks have undergone physical, chemical and biological weathering geological processes, forming strange mountains, rocks and forests, especially the game between trees and stones.
Deep in the forest, there are hundreds of ancient caves, such as the upward hole to heaven, the downward bottomless hole, the hole to hole, the hole in the hole, the son mother chain hole and so on.
