Lushui River is a tributary on the left bank of the red river. It is located in Mengzi, Pingbian and Gejiu in southern Yunnan, with a total length of 26.5 km and a drainage area of 556 square kilometers. The purpose of developing the water resources of the Lushui River is to meet the electricity demand of each region in 1960. In addition to sporadic sand shale and metamorphic rocks, the rest of the Lushui River Basin are large areas of exposed limestone with abnormal karst development. The dam site section is 1.2 km long, which is above Tianshengqiao and below the 39th Gushui.
