Zhijiang Museum
Zhijiang Museum, formerly known as "folk stone carving and wood carving art museum", was established in September 1989 under the management of Zhijiang County Cultural Bureau. In order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China, the exhibition of historical relics in Zhijiang County, which is mainly composed of unearthed cultural relics, was first opened and named Zhijiang Museum. The site of the museum is Tianhou palace, which was built in 1748 by Fujian people living in Zhijiang.
Development history
In October 1983, it was announced by the provincial people's government as a cultural relics protection unit at the provincial level. The central axis of the palace is the stone square of the gate tower, the bedroom of the main hall of the stage, the north and South ear rooms, the wing rooms, the hall of the God of wealth, the hall of Guan Sheng and the dressing house of Tian Hou. The stone carving art of the stone workshop of the gate tower is exquisite. It is made of blue stone, with a height of 10.60 meters, a width of 6.3 meters and a thickness of 2 meters. There are 95 hollowed out reliefs. The carving of Luoyang Bridge in three towns of Wuhan is exquisite, and other people, dragons, lions, phoenixes, flowers, plants and trees are all vivid. The palace is divided into four deep brick walls. From the South ear room, it enters the hall of God of wealth, and from the North ear room, it enters the hall of Guan Sheng. It is of wood structure, with a hard top and small green tiles. The only Xieshan stage was built in 1870. This group of buildings has the style of the middle and late Qing Dynasty, with a total area of 1970 square meters and a building area of 1650 square meters.
Collection
Zhijiang historical relics exhibition is the basic exhibition of Zhijiang Museum. The exhibition hall uses north and South Wing rooms and main hall, with an area of 158 square meters. On display are 318 artifacts from Paleolithic to Qing Dynasty, reflecting the historical development of Zhijiang and introducing the evolution of county system. Among them, the bronze Phoenix shaped wares of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the blue and white porcelain bowls of mangkou figures in the Southern Song Dynasty, and the headdress of the Dong Nationality in the Ming Dynasty are quite rare.
The collection contains 1340 pieces of cultural relics, including gold, silver, copper, iron, jade, embroidery, wood and stone carvings, ancient Chinese characters and paintings, which reflect the ancient politics, military, economy and culture of Zhijiang in all aspects. Some of the cultural relics have the style of Dong and Miao Nationalities. The museum focuses more on the study of carving art in Shifang of Tianhou palace, and also discusses Mazu culture.
