Qingyun tower (Hainan Wanning Qingyun tower) generally refers to shanweiling
Also known as Qingyun tower and Wanzhou tower, it is located on shanweiling, 2km southeast of Wancheng Town, Wanning City, Hainan Province. It is one of the rare ancient pagodas in Hainan Province and one of the famous scenic spots in Wanning. It has been listed as a key cultural relic in Hainan Province.
Introduction to architecture
The tower was built in 1666, the fifth year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. Its predecessor was Wenkui tower. After being destroyed, it was rebuilt in 1832. It was named Qingyun tower because of its towering height. The tower is tall and towering, simple and elegant, solid and steady, which fully reflects the unique brick and stone architecture art of ancient people in Wanning. Although the ancient pagoda has been attacked by numerous strong typhoons and thunderstorms for more than one hundred years, it is still intact. When Japan occupied Hainan, it bombed the tower with heavy artillery, but it was not destroyed in the end, only in the south corner. After the establishment of Hainan Province, the damaged area has been repaired.
The tower is octagonal in shape, made of firebrick and sporadic stone. It is about 27 meters high and has seven floors and seven eaves. In the middle of the top floor, an octagon protrudes, and the top of the pillar supports a spherical tower brake. The inner wall of the bottom floor is octagonal, and the inner walls of the upper six floors are round. Each floor has two arches from different directions, one for viewing and the other for ventilation and light transmission. There is a door in the west of the ground floor, and a rectangular stone tablet is embedded in the wall of the tower on the top of the door. The third floor of the tower is in the same direction as the bottom tower gate. There is also a stone tablet of the same size, engraved with the word "Jiafeng" on it and small characters beside it. Because it is too high to see clearly, the belly of the tower is hollow, the light is sufficient, and the wind is clear and cool. Visitors from the west gate on the ground floor can look up at the top of the tower, take a panoramic view of its belly, and enjoy the superb construction technology and charming scenery of the ancient tower.
The tower has its own charming charm. It is surrounded by jagged rocks, various forms, lush flowers and plants, and swarms of bees and butterflies. There is a stream under the tower, like a silver ribbon around the tower, the beautiful scenery is ethereal and charming. When you climb the tower, you can have a panoramic view of wanchenglouxia street, Yangfang fields in the south gate, farmhouses and villages in tianchouli, fishing boats on the Yelin beach, and the vast South China Sea. Tian handeng, a famous modern playwright and poet, once left a famous sentence: "Wenkui's seven level tower, granary's vast field".
About legend
There is also a moving legend about the tower among the local people. Once upon a time, there was a minister who came down from the imperial court to inspect Dongshan mountain. When he looked up from the mountain, he saw tens of thousands of hectares of fertile land and rice waves rolling down the mountain. The minister could not help praising him repeatedly. Unexpectedly, a Feng Shui gentleman said to the minister, "I don't think so. I have seen that there is a green dragon below. The day when this green dragon ascends into the sky is the time when great calamity comes to the world, and this vast expanse of fertile land will be submerged by the flood. The only way to relieve the disaster is to build a geomantic pagoda to suppress qinglongshou, so as to keep the grain people in this area. ". After listening to Mr. Wang's words, the minister immediately reported to the imperial court and asked for special bank to build the "Zhenlong pagoda". Since then, it has been safe from generation to generation with abundant products. No wonder this place is known as "Wan'an" and "wan'ning".
