The former site of the Northwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee is located in huashibian in the south of Yan'an City and the west of Nanchuan river. It is a national AAAAA tourist attraction.
On May 13, 1941, the Northwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee was established in zhangya village, Zaoyuan. He moved here in September 1942. Gao Gang, Peng Dehuai and Xi Zhongxun served as secretaries successively. Moved out in March 1947. There are 17 stone cave and dozens of earth cave in the old site.

In June 1946, the CPC Central Committee decided to appoint Xi Zhongxun as secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Northwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
In March 1947, the Northwest Bureau withdrew from Yan'an and successively moved to Yihe in Suide and Matigou in Zizhou. In April 1948, after the restoration of Yan'an, the Northwest Bureau moved back to Yan'an and stationed in wangjiaping. In May 1949, Xi'an was liberated. The Northwest Bureau moved to Xi'an in June.
The Northwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee has made great contributions to implementing the line, principles and policies of the CPC Central Committee and building the Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region into a model Anti Japanese Democratic base.

In order to protect and manage the former revolutionary sites in Yan'an, Yan'an City specially organized and compiled the protection plan for the former revolutionary sites in Yan'an, which plans to protect and upgrade 445 revolutionary sites in the city, and the first batch of ten revolutionary sites scenic spots such as Northwest Bureau, Zaoyuan and Yangjialing were launched.
According to the restoration plan of the former site of the Northwest Bureau, the construction project of the former revolutionary site of the Northwest Bureau was started in August 2012, the main project of the memorial hall was capped in August 2013, and the infrastructure supporting projects such as the internal exhibition and the transformation of the external environment were completed by the end of 2013. However, in July 2013, Yan'an suffered the worst continuous heavy rainfall disaster in a hundred years, which seriously damaged the former site of Northwest Bureau.
Construction scale
The newly built Northwest Bureau memorial hall is a three storey building with a building area of 8035 square meters and a display area of 3514 square meters. It has more than 400 objects, 460 photos and 16 groups of sculptures on display. Through the use of modern display means such as sound, light and electricity, the whole exhibition truly and comprehensively shows the fighting process of the establishment, development and expansion of the Northwest Revolutionary Base.
At the former site of huashiyabian, there are 11 stone kiln holes and dozens of earth kilns.
