Historical evolution

Jiangsu tourism school

In 1978, according to the instruction of Jiangsu provincial Party committee, Jiangsu tourism school was established in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, becoming the first tourism school in China. At the beginning of its establishment, the school was in charge of Jiangsu Foreign Affairs Office, with three majors of service, driving and cooking.

In 1979, the school authority was transferred to Jiangsu Provincial Tourism Administration.

In 1982, with the approval of Jiangsu provincial government, Jiangsu tourism school planned to build a new school site in huayanggang, Gulou District, Nanjing.

Nanjing Tourism School

In 1984, Nanjing Tourism School was established on the basis of Jiangsu tourism school,

 

The nature of the school has changed from technical school to secondary professional school. The school began to recruit high school graduates for two years, aiming at training junior and middle-level managers of tourist hotels.

In 1993, the school began to recruit junior high school graduates at the same time.

Since 2000, the school began to recruit five-year consistent higher vocational students.

Jinling Hotel Management College

In 1986, proposed by Wu Qingrui, former Vice Premier of Singapore and China tourism consultant, and approved by five Vice Premier of the State Council, such as Gu Mu, Yao Yilin and Tian Jiyun, Jinling Hotel Management College was established as a national key construction project.

In 1989, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, Jinling Hotel Management College became the first university in China to cultivate middle and high-level management talents in the tourism and hotel industry. It is an administrative institution under the dual leadership of the National Tourism Administration and the Jiangsu provincial government, under the local management of the Jiangsu Provincial Tourism Administration and under the department level system.

In 2001, Jinling Hotel Management College and Nanjing Tourism School co operated to become the main talent training base of tourism industry in Jiangsu Province.

In 2007, approved by Jiangsu provincial government and reported to the Ministry of education for the record, the school changed its name to Nanjing Tourism Vocational College.

 

In 2009, the school officially moved to Nanjing Jiangning new campus.
