Shijiagou compound is located in Shijiagou village, sengnian Town, 5 kilometers southeast of Fenxi County, Shanxi Province. Shijia compound is located in Shijiagou village, sengnian Town, 5 kilometers southeast of Fenxi County, northwest of Huozhou City, 5 kilometers away from Dayun road. This huge building complex, founded in 1789, covers an area of more than 100000 square meters after 80 years of expansion. Different from Qiao's and Wang's compound, the landform and architectural features here are skillfully combined. Taking a broad view, the complex is located in the mountains, high in the north and low in the south, surrounded by mountains on three sides, facing the river in the south, sheltering from the wind and facing the sun. The natural layout of the complex is well arranged, row upon row, and in the shape of a ladder. It is really a natural geomantic treasure land.

Courtyard characteristics

There are 31 courtyards of different sizes in the Shijia courtyard. The main buildings are Siheyuan, Erjin Siheyuan, Siheyuan on the second floor and Siheyuan on the third floor. They are equipped with main rooms, living rooms and side rooms respectively. They are connected with traditional round doors and ear doors. They are naturally connected and integrated. They not only play a strong role in anti-theft and information transmission, but also highlight the characteristics of climbing from the cellar, It also introduces the architectural features of Pingchuan courtyard, which makes the whole building integrated, magnificent and unique. At the same time, it can be seen that the division of Shi's living room seriously affected the feudal family rules between the master and the subordinate, the superior and the inferior, and between men and women. Outside the main building, there are wine shop, vinegar shop, dye shop, oil shop, pawnshop, drugstore, etc., which reflects the orderly overall arrangement of agriculture, industry, commerce, learning, etiquette, etc. of Shi family, and also reflects the limitations of its economic and cultural closure.

Sculpture art

The most valuable art of Shijia courtyard is architectural sculpture. There are more than 10 sets of wood carvings, such as gatehouse, Cha corridor, flowers and plants, figures, piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, with exquisite carvings and exquisite art, which have become the treasures of China's wood carving art research. There are 153 door forehead, door plaque, wood plaque, and 47 brick plaque. The handwriting skill is deep and powerful, especially the plaque of "Dongshanzhai", "Beihai style", "nanshanshou", "dunbentang" and "qingbaijiafeng". The style is unique and the charm is extraordinary. It is a rare calligraphy art. It is said that one of the 108 patterns of window pattern and partition with "Shou" as the main character represents the 108 businesses of Shijia and the other represents the 108 counties of Shanxi. Its exquisite carving, exquisite technology, ingenuity and moving intention. The large scale and unique design of the residential complex of Shijia courtyard, which integrates the art of brick carving, wood carving and stone carving, provides important material materials for the study of ancient Chinese residential buildings.

The founder of Shijia compound is shifaze, whose name is Renhou. He was born in the early years of Qianlong. When he was young, he was lonely and poor. When he was an adult, he had a good family and a prosperous business. At its peak, Shijia's shops and banks reached Taiyuan and Beijing in the north, Luoyang, Kaifeng and Xiangxiang in Hunan in the south, and Xi'an and Mizhi in the West. Shijia once became a famous family in the central and southern regions of our province.

However, one of the important reasons why Shijiagou is really famous is the deep association between Shi Mingfeng, the grandson of Shi faze, and Zeng Guofan, a famous minister in the late Qing Dynasty. As a result, Shijiagou has become a place where officials and scholars travel and is known as "the first village in the three Jin Dynasty".

Now, after more than 200 years of wind and rain erosion, the Shijia compound has been deserted. Fenxi county and the tourism department are working together to speed up the restoration of the original appearance of the compound. In the near future, the master's courtyard will go out of the world and into the open world with her majesty and charm.
