brief introduction
Sanxing village is located in Xigang Town, Jintan District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province. In the north of the village, there are three huge stones exposed on the ground. Because of its unique shape, it is very conspicuous. From generation to generation, the residents have passed on that the stone is a "Star" falling from the sky, hence the name of Sanxing village. From 1993 to 1998, with the approval of the State Administration of cultural relics, the joint archaeological team carried out six consecutive years of archaeological exploration and excavation on the Sanxing village site, with a total excavation area of 525 square meters. More than 1000 tombs, 4 house sites, 55 ash pits, and unearthed jade, stone, pottery and bone horn frog were excavated in different periods of the Neolithic age There are more than 4000 pieces (groups) of cultural relic specimens, such as pottery and so on. At the same time, a large number of well preserved human bone specimens and artificially cultivated carbonized rice specimens about 6500 years ago have been unearthed. The sanxingcun site has a large area, good preservation, rich cultural connotation, a large number of unearthed cultural relics, unique and exquisite shapes of artifacts, and high academic research value, which are extremely rare among the Neolithic cultural sites excavated so far in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The archaeological excavation results of sanxingcun site were rated as one of the "ten new archaeological discoveries in China in 1998" and won the "third prize of field archaeology in 1996-1998" issued by the State Administration of cultural relics. The collection and compilation of archaeological data of the site has been listed as the "National Social Science Foundation Project of 2000", and archaeological research has been listed in the "Tenth Five Year Plan" and "211 Project" construction project of Nanjing Normal University. The site has been designated as a provincial cultural relic protection unit.
unearthed relic
Compared with Majiabang culture, northern yinyangying culture, Songze culture and longqiuzhuang site, the cultural characteristics of Sanxing village are mostly the same as that of northern yinyangying culture, and are related to Majiabang culture, Songze culture and longqiuzhuang site. Its age is slightly earlier than that of northern yinyangying culture, and is equivalent to the middle and late period of Majiabang culture to the early period of Songze culture, about 6500 years ago - 5500.
Sanxingcun site has attracted worldwide attention for its large scale, rich remains, exquisite unearthed cultural relics and high research value. The discovery of the site once again strongly proves that the early primitive civilization in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River is one of the important sources of ancient Chinese civilization. Sanxing village is located at the junction of Taihu primitive cultural area and Ningzhen primitive cultural area in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In the past, the archaeological work in this area was basically blank. For a long time, the research on the relationship between the two primitive cultural areas failed to achieve satisfactory results, The sanxingcun site provides a lot of new materials for the study of this subject, and fills the gap in the research area of Neolithic culture in China.
Sanxing site
On May 25, 2006, as an ancient Neolithic site, sanxingcun site was approved by the State Council to be listed in the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units. Sanxingcun site is located at the junction of Taihu Lake primitive culture area and Ningzhen primitive culture area in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Its culture has dual characteristics. However, from the unearthed relics, sankencun site has its own characteristics, such as: (1) the prevalence of small-scale burial of Mingqi; (2) the highly developed production of bone ware, with many shapes and exquisite production, which is popular in the primitive culture of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River (3) some other pottery has been found for the first time in China so far. Such as the shape of beans, with the chassis four column support tank, angle shaped kettle, combined pottery beans, etc. The above characteristics reflect the development of the primitive culture of Sanxing village and its own system. With the deepening of the research work in the future, the original culture of Sanxing village will be included in the history of Chinese archaeology. The age of sanxingcun site is 5500-6500 years ago, which is equivalent to the early Songze culture in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the middle and late Majiabang culture. More than 1000 tombs have been excavated at sanxingcun site, which is an important harvest of archaeological work. So far, no site in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River has found so many tombs, which is extremely rare in contemporary culture in China! These tombs are well preserved, with complex overlapping relationship and regular distribution, which is of great value for the study of funeral customs, living standards and productivity development at that time. The burial customs and distribution rules of these more than 1000 tombs are consistent, reflecting the continuity and uninterrupted development of their culture. That is to say, in the 1000 years from 5500 to 6500 years ago, this place has always been the public cemetery of the clan or tribe, where the tombs of primitive people are concentrated.
