Jungang Fort
Jungang fort is located in the northwest suburb of Duanzhou District. It was built in 1920. It is one of the seven fort built by Lin Hu, the garrison envoy of zhaoluoyang, in Zhaoqing. The fort is located in the land hub of Zhaoqing, which echoes the guidingshan fort and controls the area together.
Architectural features
The fort headquarters is built at the West foot of the hilltop, connected with the mother fort by tunnels, and connected with the surrounding West, North and East secret fort by a 560 meter long trench, forming a defense structure that can not only cooperate as a whole, but also fight independently. The fort headquarters (mother Fort) is round in plane, 4.5m in diameter and 1.9m in height. There are five gun holes in the north of the fort, and the entrance and exit in the South connect with the tunnel outside the fort. The fort top is fixed and inverted, and is made of reinforced concrete. The tunnel is divided into the exposed section and the concealed section. The latter is flat topped and closely arranged with round Chinese fir. The top of Chinese fir is rammed with lime sand soil. There are two bunkers (sub bunkers). They are connected by tunnels at the East and West ends of the headquarters. They are semicircular and have gun holes and niches. The layout of the surrounding dark castle is radial, with three in total, which are respectively in the west, North and east of the headquarters. There are also gun holes and niches in the castle, and external tunnels and trenches.
