Quanzhou Bay ancient ship exhibition hall
Quanzhou Overseas Transportation History Museum (Quanzhou Bay Ancient Ship Museum) is a special Museum of China, located in the east of Kaiyuan Temple, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. It was founded on July 15, 1959.
Main collections
The museum has a collection of more than 10000 pieces, including 102 pieces of first-class collection. For example, the song boat unearthed in 1974 in houzhugang, 24.2 meters long and 9.15 meters wide, is divided into 13 watertight compartments, which is one of the most important discoveries in the history of Natural Science in China. The statue of Vishnu is the only Hindu cultural relic in China, which is a witness of the cultural exchange between China and India in the 14th century. The museum has three special exhibition halls. Quanzhou Bay ancient ship exhibition hall displays some objects of two Song Dynasty seagoing ships, anchorage made of stone, wood and iron in song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as sea ship models of various times; Quanzhou religious stone carving exhibition hall displays more than 300 pieces of Islam, Hinduism, fundamentalism, Manichaeism tombstones, tomb covers, statues and temple building components of foreign religions in song and Yuan Dynasties; Quanzhou export porcelain The exhibition hall displays more than 500 pieces of ceramics imported from Quanzhou port to the international market. The museum also organized an exhibition of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese history. The museum has an annual audience of about 300000. The ancient ships in Houzhu port have been restored to 1 / 10 scale, and models have been made and provided to relevant units for display and overseas exhibition.
Detailed analysis of wreck debris
Quanzhou Bay ancient ship exhibition hall is located in Kaiyuan Temple, Licheng District. The main exhibition room is the Song Dynasty sunken ship and its associated artifacts excavated from Houzhu harbor, Quanzhou Bay in 1974.
The wreck is 24.20 meters long and 9.15 meters wide. The sound of the ship is flat and broad, the bottom is sharp, the hull plates are overlapped by two to three plates, there are 13 watertight compartments, and there are "longevity holes" at the joints of both ends of the main keel.
According to research, this is a medium-sized ocean going freighter built in Quanzhou in the 13th century, with a length of 34 meters, a width of 11 meters, a depth of 4 meters and a carrying capacity of more than 200 tons.
