Luoyang Grand Canal Museum of Sui and Tang Dynasties
Luoyang Sui Tang Grand Canal Museum is located in Luoyang City, Henan Province. It is based on the national key cultural relics protection unit on the North Bank of Luohe River, the ancient architecture Qunshan Shaanxi guild hall.
Luoyang Shanshan guild hall was first built in the reign of Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Yongzheng of Qing Dynasty. It has glass screen wall, east-west instrument gate, Mountain Gate, east-west monk room, dance building, east-west corridor room, east-west official hall, worship hall, main hall and east-west auxiliary hall. It is a group of ancient buildings with rigorous structure and unique style. It was built by Shanxi and Shaanxi merchants in the early Qing Dynasty on the North Bank of Luoyang Ancient Canal (now Luohe River) and close to Luoyang for business convenience At that time, Nanguan wharf and Luoyan pass were the gathering places for business.
In April 2014, Luoyang Shanshan guild hall and Luoyang Sui Tang Grand Canal Museum were open to the public for free.
In September 2018, it was identified as a national third-class Museum.
architectural composition
The East West Corridor becomes the exhibition hall
The exhibition hall of Luoyang Sui Tang Grand Canal Museum mainly includes two exhibition halls, which are respectively located in the East-West corridor room and the East-West official hall of Shanshan guild hall.
In the exhibition hall, the relationship between Luoyang and the Grand Canal will be fully narrated by means of physical objects, pictures and multimedia. Among them, the photo exhibition mainly includes the excavation of the Grand Canal in Sui and Tang Dynasties
There are four parts: the prosperity and function of the Grand Canal in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the Pearl of the Grand Canal, the protection and application for world heritage of Luoyang section of the Grand Canal in the Sui and Tang Dynasties; the physical exhibition mainly focuses on the cultural relics related to the Grand Canal excavated or collected in Luoyang area, such as the stone components of the river embankment of the Grand Canal, the grain specimens containing jiacang, the warehouse model and so on.
The museum also plans to use high-tech means to display some typical canal cultural relics in front of the audience through holographic projection, so as to enhance the intuitive feeling of tourists. The cultural relics displayed in this way mainly include the blue and white porcelain holding pot with gall pattern of Changsha kiln, the double series porcelain injection of Yue Kiln and the three color pearl pattern applique with lid pot.
Relief map of the Grand Canal water system
In order to let visitors have a clearer understanding of the distribution and flow direction of the Grand Canal, Luoyang Sui Tang Grand Canal Museum also made a 150 square meter relief map of the Grand Canal water system on the central square of the guild hall. On the relief map, the flow direction of the Grand Canal and the cities along it are clear at a glance.
Important events
In Shanshan guild hall, the dance house was once an important performance place. In order to provide a place for tourists to have activities in the evening, the performance function of the dance building will continue. Relying on the two national art centers of the museum, it is planned to create a holographic fantasy sitcom Luoshen Fu, which is expected to last 15 to 20 minutes.
Construction
Luoyang Grand Canal Museum of Sui and Tang dynasties also restored and displayed the hall of worship according to its historical function, making it a tourist service center.
The exhibition arrangement of Luoyang Grand Canal Museum of Sui and Tang Dynasties has been basically completed. It is reported that in the next step, the museum will continue to improve its infrastructure and strive to open to the public in the second half of the year, so that people can have a deeper understanding of the impact of the Grand Canal on Chinese history and its important historical significance.
