Apeng River

Originating in Lichuan City, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province, Apeng river is a river flowing from northeast to southwest in China. It flows into Wujiang River in gongtan ancient town through Qianjiang District of Chongqing city to Youyang County, with a total length of 249 km. It is the largest tributary of Wujiang River.

A Pengjiang River breaks through the steep mountains in Qianjiang River, and flows for thousands of miles. The mountains are high and the valleys are deep, and the cliffs face each other, forming a unique Canyon scenery. In particular, Shengui gorge is the most unique. The Grand Canyon (Shengui gorge) is 38.9 km long and is a typical boutique scenic spot.

Every plant is primitive

Shenguixia Xiakou is located in Apengjiang Town, Qianjiang district. It is named because the two mountains in Xiakou are like two turtles lying opposite each other. On both sides of Shengui gorge, there are high mountains and steep cliffs. The shoal in the river is dangerous and the drop is very large. For many years, people have been rarely seen. The whole process of one mountain, one water, one plant and one tree presents the original natural style. There is only one place where people can be seen in the whole process of Shengui gorge. The rest are high gorge and deep valley. You are far away from the joys and sorrows of the world. You can forget both the favor and the disgrace. It is like a paradise in another world.

The most beautiful "a ray of sky"

Walking through the Shengui gorge in Wuling mountains, the river bends in a serpentine shape. Along the cliff Jiajiang River, there are 27 bends, including 28 gates such as Shenmen gate, Tianmen gate and Renmen gate. One bend does not end, and one bend rises again. The number of bends is really rare. The poet sighs that there is no way for a boat to reach the cliff, and another bend when it turns around. The water depth of Shengui gorge ranges from several meters to 85 meters, and the mountain is high and deep. Most of the other canyons are open "V" shaped, while the canyons of Shengui gorge are basically vertical "H" shaped. Many cliffs even incline out. To view the top of the gorge, you must take off your hat and look up. The shape of the cliff is different, including thousand layer rock, severely twisted fold rock, honeycomb rock, residual rock and picturesque cliff.

Majestic mountains and gentle waters

The majestic mountains and the gentle water form a beautiful landscape of Shengui gorge. On the cliffs, there are many stalactites hanging, some like lion watching the tide, some like ape man feeding, some like ox liver and horse lung, elephant trunk absorbing water, some like monkey fishing for the moon, some like dragon claws, some like immortal fields, some like human simulacrum, some in strange shapes and various forms.

Between the mountains and rivers, there are waterfalls pouring down from the hillside from time to time. The Shepan River, Shuiliandong waterfall, together with some other unnamed waterfalls and seasonal waterfalls, add vitality to the quiet Canyon and add a touch of light to the green environment. These waterfalls have different shapes, some hanging like a rainbow in the sky, some falling like pearls from the cliff, and some winding like a long line in the mountains.

Shuangguihanqing, panshechui, Sanlang peak, lingzhi guard, lingzhi garden, Sphinx, Shuiliandong, lion watching tide, ape man feeding, baihuxiaotian, Sleeping Buddha, Caihong mountain, Baishuiquan, ape man Mount Tai, xianrenqiaodun and other scenic spots are inlaid in the canyon, which makes people dizzy and forget to return.

Mysterious scenery

Chinese mosquito mother: there are luxuriant forests and bamboos on both sides of Shengui gorge, and the vegetation is primitive and green. The upstream is mainly composed of bamboo and Chinese mosquito mother, and the downstream is mainly composed of various hard rock materials. A variety of bamboos are all over the upstream, hanging like curtains on both sides of Shengui gorge, which is evergreen all the year round. Chinese mosquito mother is regularly distributed on the water surface in a linear manner, and the plants extend around, which is of great ornamental value. On the cliff where there is almost no soil and water, all kinds of trees grow firmly on it and stretch out obliquely, forming a unique landscape.

"Swallow thousand" Cave: there are many rare birds and animals in the forest of Shengui gorge, and there are many wild animals, especially monkeys. In spring and summer, thousands of swallows live in the "swallow thousand" cave near Tianmen, and the black swarms of swallows fly and circle over Tianmen, chasing and preying, and whispering constantly, which has become a great wonder of Shengui gorge.

The mystery: Shengui gorge is a typical karst landform with many caves. What's more strange is that there are four cave openings on the cliff. There are two dead trees regularly supporting in the "t" shape at the entrance. Some people think it's a cliff burial of Ba people, while the local people call it "Yeren cave". They think it may be the place where Yeren once lived. What's more, it's still a big mystery of Shengui gorge.

Shengui gorge is 38.9 km long from Lianghe town to the mouth of Youyang river. Because of its primitive and lush vegetation, it has become an important part of Qianjiang National Forest Park. Xiakou is close to national highway 319, 40 km from Qianjiang City, about 50 minutes by car.

A light boat on the Apeng River

A Pengjiang River in Qianjiang district is rippling with green waves, and a light boat carries villagers to travel. Combining with the development project of Shengui gorge and Zhuoshui ancient town of Apeng River, the ecological management project of Apeng River Basin has been carried out in this area. More than 4000 mu of farmland has been planted, more than 5000 mu of barren mountain has been planted, more than 20000 mu of mountain has been closed for afforestation, and more than 70000 meters of water system has been afforested. Three prevention and control areas, namely "ecological restoration, ecological agriculture, and ecological protection", have been constructed successively The water of Pengjiang River becomes clearer and greener, and the "hundred Li beautiful rural belt" along the Pengjiang river has taken shape.

Qianjiang

Qianjiang, also known as Danxing and Shicheng in ancient times. According to Yugong, Qianjiang is the territory of Liangzhou, the state of BA in Shang and Zhou dynasties, and the county of BA in Qin Dynasty. Qianjiang county began in the Eastern Han Dynasty, across Jingchu, known as the "throat of Sichuan and Hubei". Today it is the only minority area in Chongqing. Apeng River, like a jade belt winding its territory, flows through Qianjiang and Youyang in Chongqing, then sneaks into Wujiang River in gongtan, a place called "heidongzi".

Apeng river is also called Tangyan river. A Peng, Tujia language, means magnificent and beautiful. Originating in Lichuan, Hubei Province, the Apeng river is 237 km long. It is the largest downstream tributary of Wujiang River and the mother river of Tujia and Miao people.

Bai Yangquan

After reading Mr. Shen Congwen's border town, I know what it looks like, which saves me a lot of trouble in describing it. With the completion of the Chongqing Huaihua railway, the "border city" described by Mr. Shen only takes two or three hours, and the ancient city of Phoenix and Zhangjiajie are also very close.

The winding water of the Apeng river turns a bend not far from the downstream of the fishing beach. Near the bend, there is a ferry and a stream (also known as a small river by local people). The source of the stream is called Baiyang spring, and the spring flows out from between the two mountains. On the stream there are waterwheel, mill, and old arbor style wooden bridge made of thick wood. I grew up by the poplar spring on the Bank of the Apeng river.

Baiyang spring is a magical spring, warm in winter and cool in summer. In cold winter, the spring is steaming hot, while in summer, it is freezing. The story about baiyangquan was told by adults when I was a child. At the edge of the cliff at the spring eye, there used to be a tall poplar tree. It took three or four people to hold it together. Later, it took two or three days for people to cut it down and fall into the spring eye. The spring water was very deep. As a result, not to mention the poplar tree, they didn't even see a branch. No one knows how deep baiyangquan is.

Apeng River

A Pengjiang is very docile most of the time. In my memory, there was only one big flood in 1982. This time, many houses and farmland along the river were destroyed by the flood, and almost all the water in fengjiazhuoshui, the two market towns upstream and downstream of his hometown, was destroyed. At that time, I was still very young, but I also had some impressions: the same wooden houses, some stilted buildings built along the river, looked very depressed and dilapidated after being robbed by the flood.

Now great changes have taken place. At that time, the waterwheel and mill had disappeared. The township government (originally known as the commune) moved from the ferry to the mountains, and finally merged with the upstream market town Zhengyi township (formerly Zhenyi township) into Fengjia town. After the reconstruction, the market towns have become rich and beautiful.
