Guangxi Institute of Technology

In June 1958, the people's Government of the Autonomous Region decided to build Guangxi Institute of technology in Nanning.

In November 1960, it was formed by the merger of Guangxi Institute of chemical technology, Guangxi Institute of hydropower and Guangxi College of Posts and telecommunications. It is directly under the administration of the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

In August 1961, the University stopped recruiting undergraduate students, and in July 1962, the University stopped running.

In June 1982, Guangxi Institute of light industry, Guangxi Institute of mechanical industry and Guangxi Institute of petrochemical industry were merged to build Guangxi Institute of technology.

In May 1984, except for retaining the brand of Guangxi Institute of technology, all the majors, students and staff of the University were incorporated into Guangxi University.

At that time, as an important industrial town in Southwest China and the industrial center of Guangxi, Liuzhou did not have a university. Therefore, Shi Qi, then mayor of Liuzhou City, put forward the idea of moving Guangxi Institute of technology to Liuzhou. At the request of Liuzhou municipal government, in July 1985, the people's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region decided to move Guangxi Institute of technology to Liuzhou city. Based on the teaching resources of Liuzhou Branch of Guangxi University and Liuzhou day Department of Guilin Institute of electronic technology, three departments of mechanical and electrical engineering, textile engineering and construction engineering were set up

In February 2006, Guangxi Institute of technology was approved as a master's degree awarding unit by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.

Liuzhou Medical College

When it was founded on July 11, 1951, the school was located at the foot of Ma'anshan in today's Yufeng District, known as "the fourth medical school of Guangxi Province".

In 1952, it was renamed "Guangxi Liuzhou Medical School".

From 1953 to 1955, the fifth medical school (Wuzhou), the ninth medical school (Yulin), the tenth medical school (Yishan) and Guilin Medical School of Guangxi Province were merged into the national colleges and universities during the adjustment period. During this period, the school site was moved from Shanxi Province of Ma'an to Dongtai road of Liuzhou city.

In 1958, the school was upgraded to a junior college, named Liuzhou Medical College.

In 1962, the school changed its name to "Guangxi Liuzhou health school".

In 1970, the school, together with Liuzhou Agricultural School and Liuzhou normal school, extracted some personnel and property and integrated them into one, and established "Liuzhou Communist Labor University".

At the end of 1971, the Communist Labor University of Liuzhou Prefecture was dissolved, and the school was restored as "Guangxi Liuzhou health school".

In 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of education, it was upgraded and renamed as "Liuzhou Medical College". At the same time, the former Liuzhou people's Hospital and Liuzhou health school were under the management of the school

Merging schools

In September 2011, the people's Government of the autonomous region formally applied to the Ministry of education to host Guangxi University of science and technology.

On December 27, 2011, Guangxi Institute of technology and Liuzhou Medical College jointly applied for the establishment of Guangxi University of science and technology, and received a field visit by the expert group of the University establishment appraisal committee of the Ministry of education.

On March 29, 2012, Guangxi Institute of technology and Liuzhou Medical College jointly applied for the establishment of Guangxi University of science and technology, which was approved by the Ministry of education. The preparation period is one year

Faculty

According to the information on the school's official website in December 2019, there are nearly 1400 full-time teachers, 636 teachers with senior professional titles, nearly 50% of the total number of full-time teachers with senior professional and technical titles, and 1013 teachers with doctor's degree and master's degree.
