Pichaiyuan

Located in the business circle of Zhongshan Road, Shinan District, Qingdao, pichaiyuan is a neighborhood surrounded by Zhongshan Road, Beijing Road, Hebei Road and Tianjin road. In fact, there was a road named Jiangning Road in pichaiyuan, which was built in 1902 after the German occupation of Qingdao.

It is in the shape of Bu, with Zhongshan Road in the East, Beijing Road in the north and North River Road in the West. "Jiangning" is the ancient name of Nanjing. It is also the earliest "Nanjing Road" in Qingdao.

The best time is from May to October, which is also the peak tourist season in Qingdao. All kinds of seafood are fresh.

On the main street of Jiangning Road, there are many pubs and restaurants. Apart from yuanhuitang, Lijia jiaozi restaurant and Zhangjia Tanzi meat, most of them are small restaurants, candy shops, bookstores and amusement parks. North Street is selling cooked meat, including Dezhou grilled chicken, Fushan roast chicken, South belly, sauce liver, etc. As for snacks, pancakes, steamed buns, wonton and bean curd are the most famous and popular. When people come to visit the firewood yard, they always buy and eat while they go shopping.

No. 10 Jiangning road is like an entertainment compound. There is a cinema called Da Guangming, surrounded by Yongan and Gongle tea houses. Wang Dingchen, the "king of tricks" and nicknamed "Wang fool", played here. Xin Fengxia came to work for "Wang fool" alone when she was free in Xi Dashen's performance. There are also crosstalk actor Ma Sanli, storyteller Ge Zhaohong, Shandong kuaishu actor Gao Yuanjun, and quyi family Liu Taiqing, all of whom have practiced here.

Among the several large courtyards, for example, yard 4 has a second-hand bookstore, stationery store and grocery store, and yard 8 plus yard 10 is a place of entertainment.

As for the origin of the name "firewood chopping yard", some people say that it used to be a "firewood chopping city" and all of them sell firewood. Others say that the firewood is not only used for cooking, but also for brick and tile production in Dayaogou kiln. In Liu Yun's poetry collection Qingdao Baiyin, we see such a note: "pichaiyuan is near Zhongshan Road, the most noisy area. All the houses in the courtyard are built with firewood, so they are named. But the rent is light and the price is cheap, and the poor have to go to and fro. " That is to say, the firewood yard is named because it has built many temporary commercial "firewood houses". These "firewood houses" are well known to some old Qingdao people. Most of them are dilapidated houses built at will, low and damp. Since Qingdao was built into a city in the mid-1920s, a Jiangning Road and several courtyards have been built here. Jiangning road has gradually become a commercial pedestrian street. Most of the courtyards on the street are shops and restaurants. Firewood yard has become the name of this commercial street from the name of a courtyard.

Pichaiyuan, like the old Beijing Dong'an Market, is a complete market. In the 1940s, Qingdao evening news set up a column called "pichaiyuan" to report the news here every day. Almost no old Qingdao people have never been to the firewood yard, and most of those who come to Qingdao from other places go to the firewood yard. There are more than 20 courtyards on Jiangning road. The whole street and several courtyards are concentrated areas of Commerce, catering and entertainment. They are the concentrated places for Qingdao people to go shopping. Pichaiyuan is famous for its bustle. Many small businessmen from all over the world often live here to enjoy the "wharf culture". It used to be Qingdao civilian entertainment center. Daguang cinema in Shanghai used to be the largest and best equipped cinema in China. One of the cinemas here, also known as Daguang, can only accommodate more than 100 seats. Later, it became a theater for performing local operas. After liberation, it was a magic troupe composed of three generations of families. The actors and ticket sellers were all one family. Pichaiyuan has several tea houses, such as bright tea house, Yong'an tea house and Gongle tea house.

There were 23 singers (actors). There are also Miao Xincheng's storytelling and other folk art centers. In the courtyard, there are "abandoned" artists, that is, open-air performances, with a few or more benches on them. After a period of performance, they charge money. Those who stand and watch can not pay money, while those who sit must pay money. Some of them are scattered on Jiangning road.

By the 1940s, famous food such as wonton, wobing, Yubao and bean curd were gathered in pichaiyuan, which became the earliest Food City in Qingdao. On the main street of Jiangning Road, there are mainly restaurants on both sides, including yuanhuitang, Lijia jiaozi building, Zengsheng building, Tianxing building, xiejufu, yimeizhai, etc. among them, yuanhuitang is the largest and most famous. In addition to the two-story buildings on the street, there are several single rooms in the backyard. Shandong cuisine is divided into Jinan cuisine and Jiaodong cuisine. Yuanhuitang is a famous restaurant of Jinan cuisine. In the west section of Jiangning Road, it mainly sells candy and fried goods such as peanuts, melon seeds and chestnuts. Most of them are front stores and back factories, retail and wholesale. The section from the main street to Beijing road is mainly a pub, and in front of the door is a cooked meat stand, which deals in pork head, sauced liver and sauced beef. Some of them are also front stores and back stores. The pub mainly sells loose wine. There is a big VAT in the shop, and the red paper says "big restaurant" for customers to buy Wine is extracted with two or four pairs of "wine raisins". Only dried bean curd, peanuts, wine and dishes are available. If you need meat, you need to buy it from the cooked meat stall outside the door.

Some of the most famous artists came to the fore in the firewood yard. For example, Ma Sanli, a famous crosstalk actor, came to Qingdao in 1932 at the age of 18, and played with Liu Baorui, such as Dui Dui Zi and Da Shang Shou, which were very popular. Later, he became a crosstalk master. In 1984, he came to Qingdao to attend the conference and made a special trip to pichaiyuan to visit the old place.

Shangdong Qinshu actor Shangxing married Guan Yunxia. Later, Qingdao also performed in pichaiyuan, later known as the representative actor of "Donglu Qinshu". After liberation, she took part in the national quyi performance. In 1959, she returned to Qingdao and served as the deputy head of Qingdao quyi troupe. Later, she became a famous Shandong Qinshu performer. Zhu Lihua came from his family.

Xihe Dagu actor Liu Taiqing opened Taiqing tea house in No.10 courtyard in 1932. He sang Xihe Dagu and created his own school. His performance was correct and round, both in form and spirit, and his singing was changeable. He created "fast playing and slow singing", and his characters were delicate and lifelike. His plays included "can Tang and Five Dynasties", "Fengshen romance", etc., and he also sang "Cao Chuan borrow an arrow" and other passages. After liberation, he won the first prize of Shandong Province and was received by Premier Zhou Enlai.

Liu Taiqing is a famous family of Quyi in pichaiyuan. His wife, from Pingdu, is a Shandong Dagu player. His second brother, Liu Taixi, is a board Dagu player. His third brother, Liu Taisheng, his son, Liu Jixiang, and his eldest daughter, Liu Liqin, are accompanists. The second daughter Liu Shuqin inherited her father's career and became a famous Xihe drum actor, winning the second prize of Shandong quyi. Her third daughter, Liu Huiqin, is the main actor of the Central Radio rap troupe. She has studied Xihe Dagu and Shandong Qinshu. She has also studied Henan Zhuizi from Bai Fengming, a quyi artist, and has performed abroad many times. A few years ago, she held a solo concert in Beijing, where she performed Henan Zhuizi, Shandong Qinshu, folk songs and western bel canto songs. She became popular in the capital and was known as "Third Sister Liu of Qingdao".

Among the artists of pichaiyuan are the famous storytellers Ge Zhaohong and Wang Baoheng. In 1948, Ge Zhaohong continuously broadcast "three swordsmen" on the radio, which is the most popular program and the first actor to broadcast long quyi on the radio.

After liberation, in the "three transformations", artists and vendors were organized and left the firewood yard, leaving only a few hotels, such as yuanhuitang, which gradually became a residential area. Since the new era, more than a dozen restaurants have been opened in the west section of Jiangning Road, which is known as a snack street. They are engaged in seafood, steamed buns, wonton, sweet foam and other snacks.
