Zhejiang Customs Museum
The former Zhejiang Customs Museum is located at 542 Zhongma Road, Jiangbei District, Ningbo City.
Zhejiang Customs was founded in 1685, which was one of the four customs in old China (Jianghai customs, Zhejiang customs, Fujian customs and Guangdong Customs). After the "five port trade", Zhejiang Haiyang Customs was established in Ningbo in 1861. Zhejiang customs became a semi colonial and semi feudal customs until 1949. The former site of Zhejiang customs is an early example of the modern architectural complex on the Bund of Ningbo. It was built in the 11th year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1861). It is a three story brick building with an attic. The exterior retains the simple and lively style of traditional Chinese architecture, with a total building area of 1067.8 square meters. Zhejiang customs is the earliest organization with modern customs functions in China, which is the historical witness of China's early customs and has high historical and cultural value. In 2005, it became a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province. In 2008, it established the former site museum of Zhejiang customs.

Development history
Located in the old Bund of Yongjiang in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, it is a three story brick veranda building with a total construction area of 1067 square meters. It is a typical office building, breaking the traditional Chinese courtyard structure. The materials are Chinese style green bricks, but they are matched with western style porch columns, door jambs and window jambs. A small building is the epitome of the fusion of Chinese and Western culture. Zhejiang customs is one of the four earliest established customs in China. It was founded in 1685, the 24th year of Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty. It is also the earliest organization with modern customs functions in China. After the Opium War, Zhejiang customs became a semi colonial and semi feudal customs until the liberation of Ningbo in 1949. It is the historical witness of China's early customs and has important historical and cultural value.
Collection
Baoshun model
In 1854, Fei lunzhi and Sheng Zhiwan from Cixi raised 70000 taels of money to buy the steamer from British merchants. They named it "Baoshun" and armed it to escort the merchant ships. This is the earliest steam powered ship in China, and it is also a sign of Ningbo's bid farewell to Sailing port and entering the airport and ship port.
At that time, the ship sailed into Beiyang under the condition of "cutting first and then playing", protected and rescued many merchant ships, dealt a heavy blow to the rampant pirates in Beiyang, and made great achievements. After that, due to a grounding, Hangzhou city was broken by the Taiping army, and Baoshun suddenly disappeared from the stage of history. It didn't reappear until 25 years later. But that's the last glimpse of history. It was filled with stones waiting at the coast defense entrance, ready to sink into the channel to resist the invasion of the French fleet. So, the ship from the sea once again returned to the sea, forever sleeping under the vast waves.
Sextant
Sextant is an optical instrument used to measure the angle between two distant targets. It is usually used to measure the angle between the celestial body and the sea level at a certain moment, so as to quickly know the longitude and latitude of the ship's position. The principle of sextant was first put forward by Newton. When in use, the observer holds the sextant and rotates the indicator mirror to make the celestial bodies in the field of view coincide with the sea level. Optical instruments used by early Western navigators were very common in that period.
Scenario simulation
A day in 1884 for the tax department of Zhejiang customs
Although we can't experience that history personally, when we see the real scene simulation, we seem to travel through time and come to Zhejiang customs in 1884. Ge Xianli, who was then the tax department of Zhejiang customs, was sitting on the armchair beside the fireplace, holding a pipe, listening carefully to ningshaotai road's pen style to convey ningshaotai road's instructions, and everything was going on in an orderly way.
Standing at the window, a foreigner official is looking at Zhenhai with a telescope. Sitting at his desk is Li Gui, a Chinese copywriter from Zhejiang customs. Although his status is not prominent and his clothes are very ordinary, he went to the United States in 1876 to attend the "centennial of the founding of the United States" World Expo. He was the first person in China to attend the Expo. After returning home, he wrote a new record of traveling around the earth.
Right above the fireplace is a portrait of Queen Victoria, next to a teapot, with customs documents scattered on the desk and nautical charts pasted on the wall.
Outside the window, there are many merchant ships passing by. On the other side, there are many foreign markets: consulates, churches, foreign companies and nightclubs. This was an ordinary day of Zhejiang customs in 1884. Now things have changed, and the only thing left is the simulated scenes.
