Liu family temple
In 1898, Liu Yongfu started the construction of Liu's family temple by the Shahe River at the southern foot of Baiyun Mountain, which was completed in 1900. Liu's family temple is located at No.2 dazhoudi, middle Guangzhou Avenue (diagonally opposite to Baiyun District People's Hospital).
geographical environment
Liu's family temple is located in the north facing south, with a courtyard layout of front and back. Today, it covers an area of more than 3000 square meters, with a construction area of 1147 square meters. Single eaves, hard hilltop, Lu gray tube tile. The main building is the head gate and main hall, with veranda on both sides and patio separating the front and rear seats. On the top of the head gate, there is a regular script stone forehead of "Liu's family temple". The main ridge is the Bogu ridge, and the ridge body is decorated with grey plastic patterns. The eaves have blue glazed tiles and Ruyi shaped dripping water. There are brick carvings at the end of the gable, carved eaves boards, granite plinths and blue brick walls. Before the Ming Dynasty, the Jinzhu wooden couplet was written by Su ruohu, a calligrapher and Juren in Shunde, Guangdong Province: the words of the master of Shang Shu en Ze are still well-known in the world, and there should be a sound of summer here. The latter golden pillar is a couplet written by Liu Yongfu: he rode his horse back from South Vietnam to build rafters. He used Tuo Xianling to say that he was brave enough to stay in Suishi, and the whole brigade went to Shenjing to defend the two words. He kept the same surname and showed his loyalty and filial piety to Pengcheng. After the completion of the temple, Liu Yongfu moved from the Liu residence in Haoxian street to live here, and offered the memorial tablets of his ancestors and parents in the hall of Mingjian for daily worship. At that time, a Zhongyi temple was built on the right side of the temple to worship paoze, which was destroyed during the Anti Japanese war in the 20th century.
Liu Yongfu has been aiding Vietnam to resist France for ten years and has deep feelings with the Vietnamese people. In August 1905, he met with pan Peizhu, the forerunner of Vietnam's democratic revolution, at the Liu's family temple. He talked about the incident of resisting the law and provided the Liu's family temple to the Vietnam's democratic revolutionary organization "reform society" to carry out revolutionary activities. During the Anti Japanese War, Liu's family temple was destroyed. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the Department of cultural relics administration repaired it many times. In November 2008, the Liu family temple was announced as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province.
Introduction to the owner
Liu Yongfu (1837-1917), whose name is Yuanting, was born in Bobai, Guangxi. He was born in Xiaofeng Township, gusendong, Fangcheng, Qinzhou, Guangdong Province in 1837. Liu Yongfu fought against foreign aggression all his life. He was brave and good at fighting, and his military achievements were outstanding. He led the black flag army, twice at the request of the Vietnamese government sent troops to fight against France, beheaded the commander of the French army by the sword, created a myth of repeated victories and greatly inspired the morale of the Chinese nation. The ballad "Liu Yi fights ghosts, the more he fights, the better to watch" has spread all over southern Xinjiang. During his 20 years in Guangzhou, Liu Yongfu served as the commander in chief of Nan'ao town and acted as the commander in chief of Jieshi town. In order to defend the South China Sea, Liu Yongfu retained Suishi. He helped the weak and the poor, mediated the fight, eliminated the tyrant and brought peace to the people, which is still a good story in Yi's life. During the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895, Liu Yongfu was ordered to "assist in Taiwan's defense" and stationed in Tainan. When the Qing government signed the Treaty of Shimonoseki with Japan and ceded Taiwan and the Penghu Islands, he still stayed in Tainan and vowed to resist to the death until he had no grain and was forced to withdraw to Guangzhou. On February 3, 1917, Liu Yongfu died in Qinzhou, Guangxi at the age of 80.
Liu Yongfu's performance exhibition is divided into seven parts: first, creating the black flag army; second, helping Vietnam to resist France; third, fighting with the Qing army; fourth, guarding Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan's coastal areas; fifth, going to Taiwan to resist Japan; sixth, Canton; seventh, eternal fragrance. There are more than 180 exhibits on display, including pictures of Liu Yongfu's life story, copies of Liu Yongfu's letters, memorials, poems and other cultural relics, as well as the imperial approval of Emperor Guangxu and memorials of Ministers of the current Dynasty. There are also precious calligraphy of "tiger" written by Liu Yongfu himself, military knives made in France in the early 19th century seized in Vietnam's anti French battlefield, and two acid branch chairs preserved in Liu's family temple. Through the exhibition, we will carry forward Liu Yongfu's heroic spirit and patriotism of fearing no violence, being brave and good at fighting, and daring to resist foreign aggression in the anti French and anti Japanese wars. We will also praise his story of eliminating violence, pacifying the people and benefiting the people in Guangzhou, and carry out patriotic education for the masses.
