YingYuan is located on the Bank of Huangyu River in Bianmin street, Nanxun ancient town, Nanxun District, Huzhou City. It is the private residential garden of Chen Xiong, one of the "eight cattle" in Nanxun. It covers an area of 11.07 mu. It was built in 1862 and completed in 1875. It is a cultural relic protection unit in Nanxun town. YingYuan is exquisite, compact and elegant. After liberation, YingYuan was renovated several times, and the main buildings were well preserved. Professor Chen Congzhou, a famous ancient garden expert, once praised YingYuan as "a pavilion and a floor around the pool, with clear reflection, extremely compact and colorful, and the charm of Suzhou Lion Forest". Every evening, a hundred birds gather in the garden and become a wonder.

Ancient wood and sculpture in YingYuan

The ancient trees in YingYuan are lush, with shade of Magnolia grandiflora, Cinnamomum camphora and Wisteria for more than 100 years. The buildings and pavilions are built along the pool, and the rock rockeries in Taihu Lake are well arranged, with winding paths leading to secluded scenery. The "moon appreciation building" stands out on one side of the Hezhe flower pool. Beside the building, there are a row of purple mahogany long glass windows, painted beams and carved columns, which are antique. On the other side of the pool, there is a black tile wall "Yangxin Pavilion", which used to be the place where the garden owner wrote poems and painted. "Yuxiang Pavilion" is also built in the west of the pool. It is a brick, tile and wood structure building with refined lines and unique ingenuity. If you climb upstairs, you can enjoy the scenery in the garden. What's more attractive is that there is a delicate plum stone pavilion on the rockery in the garden. In the pavilion, there is a precious plum stone tablet, 138 cm high and 79 cm wide. The plum stone picture on the tablet is a masterpiece of Wang Li, a famous calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty (1813-1879 A.D.) in his later years. The sword technique is vigorous, which is the best among the stone carvings. The inscription of the stone tablet is: "it is written by sun Lei, the governor of Hanyang, as a scholar, and it was written three days before the fall of Yihai.

YingYuan is also good at all kinds of carving, including brick carving, stone carving, wood carving and so on. It is almost a small sculpture art museum. For example, the doors and windows of "Yangxin Pavilion" are exquisitely carved and lifelike boxwood carvings, each of which has celebrity calligraphy. One of them, the painting of ploughing and weaving, is made by men and women. It is a combination of rough and delicate, with vivid images. Some of the boxwood carvings in the romance of the Western chamber are still preserved on the floor long window of the original "qingfengpian" for Chen's reception. On both sides of the hall, there are stone carvings and leaky Windows Embedded in the brick walls, which not only has artistic beauty, but also has ventilation.
